I've always said I think that Coote is just useless. He lets far too much go, and not only in our games - I've seen it in plenty of others too.
He was an idiot to say what he did, but I doubt he's alone amongst PL refs in his hatred of Klopp, who gave them all earache constantly.
To highlight just how incompetent Coote is, if he really had it in for us he had two clear opportunities to give pens against us in the Villa game but didn't.
He's so useless he can't even get being biased right.

Or he got told in his ear he waved away an absolute stonewall red card offense and started to cover his own arse by making bizarre decisions like.giving a free out for Watkins flop and blaming a non existent elbow.

You can never discount what goes through these guys minds when they know they've been caught rotten.

I was going to say it would be awkward if they don't speak English - but then half of the players don't anyway so probably doesn't matter.
They'd still develop their own biases over a period though.
Personally, I don't believe the overall standard of reffing is any better anywhere else - it's as hit and miss as it is here.

Honestly, I don't think I would do any better than any of the refs. I think most of them do a pretty good job even without the aid of TV angles and replays. (Of course VAR has that now and still make mistakes).

Most refs do pretty well by and large. I can accept a few mistakes as expected human error.

Obviously there are some refs that just seem to screw up on a regular basis though or show clear bias.

Btw. I'm voting real... Just because, if you're going to make a fake AI video, there seems like harder hitting ways to screw someone over.

If someone was trying to screw up Coote's life it would be easier to have him accepting a bribe in a video than just having him call Klopp names.

It's obviously meaningful to us, but it's the kind of thing you half expect the PGMOL to brush aside.

He’s already admitted it’s him but he doesn’t remember making the video… prob cos seems he’s high on something

Covid buzz.

On the one aide did anything he said really disqualify him as a referee?

Did he admit or jike about actually doing anything on the park?

He called an ex manager names.

He said he didn't want to talk to klopp and took his comments personally.

He is clearly high and whoever is videoing is not and is exploiting it to get a video.

On the other hand his consistent actions on var and as a ref are very telling and he can't wave off the incredible list of extremely biased and now obviously chasing as an official.

This ain't just about Coote anymore though - the whole rotten edifice of the PGMOL is a stinking pile of sleazy, vile, rancid corruption. I'm not having this whole bumbling amateurs narrative anymore, simply because our refs aren't as overtly bribable as Italian or East European refs - they're as bent as nine-bob-notes in their biases and arrogance.

The PGMOL is like the court of Henry VIII in social climbers trying to catch the favour of Webb (or whoever is top of that greasy pole at any given time). A full, judicial led investigation into them would make WhatsApps between them revealed - and God knows what that would out. And don't get me going on that Emperor's New Clothes that is the sainted Michael Oliver, his co-conspirator in the Prickford assault.

I hope astro is up there looking down at the moment and saying "I told you - [HASHTAG]#bentasfuck[/HASHTAG] " . :emoticon-0119-puke:

Dunno if you saw Dermot Gallagher before on SkySports reviewing the non-sending-off on Saturday against Villa trying to diplomatically as possible say that Coote was a ****ing idiot and had a clear view of the incident. I've never seen Gallagher be so unequivocally critical since he went into punditry.

He revealed his personal feelings, which raises questions about his integrity when officiating LFC games. Given the numerous high-profile errors he’s made during games, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s malicious.

I'm rather bemused that some commentators and journalists are trying to excuse this as Coote being pissed (or coked-up, by implication), and that is some sort of excuse. Well, in vino veritas, so to speak - those biases are there and the truth came out. You can't put that genie back in the bottle.

But according to John Cross on Sky just now, the big lesson from all this is that we must respect referees above all else, and Howard Webb is such an honorable man doing such a great job. Yeah, that's entirely the lesson to be gleaned from this episode.

Ffs, it'll be our fault by tomorrow, and we're the 'victims' again for being all uppity about it. :emoticon-0138-think

He had to have been briefed by Webb already and told to hang him out to dry

Remember Howard Webb smiling from ear to ear sending Gerrard off (not that it wasn't a ref) but pgmol have one of thr biggest corrupt refs in thr history of the gsme running it.

I avoided commenting on this issue until now so I could make a fair assessment.

Coote should either lose his job or at least never referee in the PL. Howevwr I don't have an issue so much with what he said - apart from adding "German" in front of the expletives.

If I compare it to my work, there are some repeat customers that I bitch about in private. However, I remain professional when I deal with them. Call me naive, but I'd like to think most referees would be the same. Therefore, I don't see the point in wasting time and energy legislating every decision he's made against Liverpool.

Having said that, I accept that it is absolutely fair to legislate those decisions because the evidence outlined in that video does point to a bias. More to the point he was stupid enough to be recorded saying it.

Isn't that like trying to excuse drink driving by claiming you were too drunk to know what you were doing? <laugh>

Yeah, it's not a clear case of him admitting to fix games. Just him insulting someone while off his face.

I mean villa must have royally pissed him off to not get 2 pens.

Bit awkward as legend doesn’t even rhyme with bellend

you say that and you’re right that every person in work place has people they don’t like but remain professional.

Thing is, I know in my own job, the people I get on with better I’m much more likely to do things for them quicker, more forgiving if they need an extension on something etc compared to people I don’t like or don’t get on with and much more inclined to put that stuff at bottom of the list.

it’s human nature.

whether he has or hasn’t made decisions to the detriment of lfc, the fact that he’s openly admitted he doesn’t like klopp or the club, at least puts some doubt that in a given 50/50 he’s much less likely to side with lfc because of that bias - heck it’s not even unconscious.

Shojmd he lose his job? Unless he was doing anything illegal, prob not. But his integrity on all things lfc have been questioned and as such, I don’t think you can referee any prem games going forward as that integrity will be put under spotlight. Even if now he tried to overcompensate and ends up giving lfc more favourable decisions.

Only thing can think is he’s put down into EFL or moves abroad now. Don’t see how can ref in the prem while lfc are involved.

I agree that everyone has biases of one sort or another towards people they interact with, so the question is how well they can remain professional whilst doing their job. It's not whether or not they're biased, but how well they can overcome it when required.
As I've said a day or two ago he had two clear opportunities to award penalties against us but didn't. I'm still sticking to the opinion I've had about him for a long time now, that he is just plain incompetent.
