I think it's the power and influence the US has on the world that gives it more attention.

But all politics out there is a European export, they are all pretty much native Europeans who've colonised a native American land.

They have power and influence over Europe because our politicians, collectively, are a ****ing disgrace.

You have countries with great GDPs out there that can't be ****ed to even meet their 2% defence spending, a target they agreed too.

Then you have the corruption in Eastern Europe, the constant chaos on the Mediterranean, whatever the **** is happening in the UK every other week.

The US has been a country for a couple hundred years now and much of their politics, systems etc are grassroots and homegrown.

It hasn't been a colonial power for a bit.

Except for eerily similar Donald Trump, who seems to have watched a few 90s UKIP speeches in the European Parliament.

It's also because of their massive economic power. They have been the biggest economy in the world since around 1890

The Dollar underpins most of the world's reserves and I think something like 60% of world central banks use the Dollar to underpin their own currencies. It's a liquid currency that can be traded anywhere in the world and that gives it and the US power over almost all aspects of international trade and thus international politics

They also have the most expensive and best equipped military in the world and as we've seen numerous times, they will use that to try and force political change, or supplies countries that align with what they how they want the world to be shaped.

    Everyone knows all this.

But none of this is an excuse for the state so much of this continent is in, what has the currency and military power of the United States got to do with the appalling European immigration policy that is now causing so much conflict on streets?

It's been **** since 2010 and no one has done -anything-

What has the dollar got to do with the unbelievably appalling state of the NHS, not just national health in the UK either, but it's degradation across multiple European countries.

I'm not saying to ignore the US and its completely irrelevant, what I am saying is, I know people who do not vote in elections who are very opinionated on Trump and his policies.

We either invite them to be our colonial overlords and let them run the place, or we focus on ourselves and improve the nations we actually live in.

This ain't even a British problem, it's Western Europe.

Read much history? Look at the history of the Roman Republic and its Greek client states. Then look at the US and the Europeans.

We are doing everything we shouldn't be doing.

Edit: I am struggling to articulate this as I am at work in a car <laugh> makes more sense in my brain

I agree, European politics has been a **** storm. And the rise of actual fascists has gone largely unchecked.

You have people like Victor Orban and Lukashenko who cozy up to Putin, and Italy has always had an undertone of fascism running through it's politics

But when supposedly liberal democracies like Holland, Germany and the Polish (although they are out now) have far right wing leaders, and in France they were only kept out by a liberal alliance, it's a worrying sign

Add to that, that you have **** nuggets like Farage cozying up to Trump and social media's spew of anti immigrant rhetoric that drags in the likes of @Sucky and it's not a huge stretch to envisage somebody like him getting elected to PM here.

The US put it’s economy on a war footing in 1941, and it worked so well for them that it’s stayed that way ever since. WWII left Europe bankrupt and heavily reliant on either U.S. or Soviet aid, which was conditional on providing bases for US or Russian armed forces.

The world has changed a lot since 1945 so it’s inevitable that the old order would eventually change. In particular, if the US can make peace with Russia, why would they need bases in Europe? A Putin/Trump agreement would make perfect sense for Russia and America. Not sure where that leaves Europe, but if America turns inward - putting America First - why do they need us?

Anna Botting on SKY News still crying, situated in Philadelphia they didn't get the result they wanted. If I was American I would have voted Kamala, but I'm not so I get to laugh at them instead. But what it does show to me, clearly, how everything is controlled and that's why politics is so devisive, that's why people like Trump, Musk and our own Farage reshape politics, because we allow the vitriol to happen, we allow the media like SKY and others to control the narratives, and the more people react like that, the more people are NOT going to get the outcomes they hoped for. We saw it with Brexit, we've seen it with Trump and Farage is waiting in the wings. Even Kamala does not take defeat gracefully, so all the Trump voters will be watching and they will just become more entrenched. I thought when Biden took office he made a very good acceptance speech, because he openly welcomed Republicans, which is what is needed, but sadly that didn't last long and it's now got us where we are today. I looked at the votes cast, it seems Trump won by 5 million, although both sides had voting totals not far off our UK population, each! It really shows as a whole how insignificant we are in the grand scale of things.

Google body building and sex drive. There's actually a negative correlation between body building and sex drive. Numerous causes: the "supplements", once your body goes below certain body fat your sex drive drops, the fact that your body is fatigued.

Body builders much less likely to do sexual abuse than general population at large because they don't have a sex drive. A little bit of lifting can increase your sex drive. A lot of lifting will have the opposite effect.

No matter how bad Starmer could possibly be, you can say with full confidence at the next GE you can kick him whimpering to the kerb if people don't want him.

    You don't want a Trump.
