Well they've binned the goal music. The rotten gits, I was looking forward to booing it, several times, tomorrow, gotta drown out Rico's moaning somehow.

Can’t tell you how gutted I am about that. And it improved the atmosphere sooooo much. It was like being at a Fenerbahce or Napoli game.
Good to see that the club listened. Seems it was against Tim's wishes but he has accepted it and called for the fans to do their bit by loudly supporting the team.
The problem I think, as I've said many times, is that people get so fed up. It's not a lack of passion or interest, it's a lack of hardiness, a defeatism when things go wrong at home (all too often) which probably contributes to the cycle. A run of good home form would break that cycle I'm sure, but it'd be great if we could break it ourselves as fans by trying to just have a good time and support the team regardless of the performance and what we think about the tactics.

Definitely true. Think we're a particularly bad case at the moment though. Not sure what they're like now but Sunderland used to be famously terrible at home, in terms of support and also results, a vicious cycle of half the ground booing and leaving before half time and constant defeats. For a while Palace had a really vocal, positive support but I hear that's died off a lot now, maybe due to their relatively dull last 10 years or so of PL survival and little more.
Make no mistake, if we were on the journey we went on in the mid 00s now, we'd have the same bouncing atmosphere we did them. The tricky bit, maybe even impossible, is getting that kind of support when it's not been going well for an extended time.

Well, yeah. That and climbing the leagues and having success upon success, reaching heights not seen for decades, and eventually ones not seen ever. It was impossible not to be excited.
The other example I keep going back to is Ipswich last season. A number of factors coincided to make that a particularly exciting and anticipated game and the atmosphere matched it. The way the game played out obviously helped too, or maybe the atmosphere helped our performance to some extent.
I think deep down, we all enjoy and look forward to just going to the game, and that should theoretically be the source of our passion and excitement that makes us sing up rather than what happens on the pitch. But in practice, we get maybe excessively invested in the performance and we give up a bit when it isn't good.
The idea is to get behind the team and encourage them and not sit waiting to do something to make us deign to make some noise. Fans in Europe, including those in Turkey, and South America are in the stadium long before kick off singing, chanting and creating an atmosphere. Here teams come out whilst a lot of people are still coming in who then proceed to sit down waiting to be entertained. Can’t see it changing and being like Acun’s other team.
