If there was anything dodgy about the Philogene deal, I think that Villa are the ones creating the dodginess, it wasn’t just Philogene they “sold” & bought back, but Cameron Archer too, they then “sold” him again to Southampton.
Didn’t they & Everton both spend money on youth players from each other, just happening to be the same amount?

The link to Tan though could be in his insistence that Villa wouldn't be the ones buying him which he went on public record about that I referenced above. Perhaps Acun was just as annoyed that we didn't end up selling him to someone else for more money.

Feel as though a level of trust/reliance was taken away in summer. If that’s how we operate without Acun’s influence on persuasion then it’s probably the best decision.

Yes we have issues, but far too many targets that were supposedly done fell through, let alone how slow we actually did business

Someone had to be the fall guy for the summer, I didn't think it would be Tan though

Judging by Baz’s comments he isn’t surprised.

It’s shocked me a little as he’s always been the one to calm things down, im sure we’ll see some form of clarity soon.

This theory, that it may have something to do with the handling of the transfer business in the summer or the Jaden situation, may well turn out to be the reason.

However, Tan gave a press conference in Turkey a week ago, and from the translation there was no hint of the problem, so if Baz is right that and something has been bubbling in the background, why let him make that speech if Acun was planning to sack him. It just feels to be as if it was a quick decision, that maybe something game to light recently.

I guess TWT.

Some form - yes.

Reckon it'll be subject to private litigation so we'll hear something pertinent probably in about 5 years time.

And if anyone is gonna try and get hold of the story, it certainly won't be Baz or Mike White publicising it.

Too scared of being banned.

Boo hoo. No wonder the MKM is a soulless place with no atmosphere which away fans and players regard as a bit of a jolly compared to a lot of other grounds, or officials aren’t swayed with some of the wet lettuces we have as supporters. Will you be applauding Sunderland if the pull off a good move?
Third vote for Southern Comfort here.

Haven't touched it since a fateful night around 45 years ago when I tried to impress a girl by necking it straight out of the bottle at an after pub party, during my ill-advised Phil Oakey phase.

The fact that I could only see out of one eye due to the bizarre haircut didn't help when the double vision and nausea kicked in.

I ended up slumped unconscious in my mate's outside netty and she went home regally unimpressed and not amused.

End of a relationship which had never actually begun.

Evil stuff that Southern Comfort. Avoid.

Southern Comfort was also my downfall. I totally redecorated the ****ters in Staff House at the University one night. Don’t remember too much enough to say that I was so ashamed that I wrote a letter of apology to the poor cleaners.

This thread has gone from "I wonder if it was due to the slow transfer business" to "Tan was taking back handers on the transfers" in 14 pages based on absolutely no evidence from what I can see <laugh>

This must be how conspiracy theories get going....
Talking of conspiracies, I’m getting whispers about Tan and a bottle of Malibu. Can’t say anymore.

I was 2 weeks out thanks to national teams break, but wasn't expecting to see this. Acun is having bad days at Turkey - not only football related but not necessary to go into details here (check his twitter if you are interested), there are multiple things going wrong for him and as I expected he returned back to same thing that every oligark do in Turkey, being impulsive. Did they assign anyone to replace, too hard to read 14 pages of jokes and puns.
