it's not about "pissing off" business but allowing them to grow and take chances as that is the only way to grow the economy nut yes there has to be a balance that they pay their fair share in taxYep, every tax has its pluses and minuses. I guess it's finding a balance between being able to raise enough money for the exchequer and not pissing off either businesses or the working man.
There are some downsides regarding raising Corporation tax and Capital gains tax
it's not that tiny at £88bn a couple of years agoCorporation tax is relatively tiny in terms of it's overall contribution to the exchequer... you need to keep that in check in order to attract multinationals to set-up here ... and then start paying over 2 of the biggest contributors, VAT and employment taxes ...

About 6 years ago I done some forklift work for a few weeks in Wandsworth recycling center.
When I went for my first day I looked around this corridor that's I was stood in full of people who looked like they had leukemia and the supervisor started talking in a language I guessed was some Eastern European speak, 15 mins he rattling on ...he never said a word of English to anyone as he barked out each workers tasks for the day (i guessed)
Anyways after that was over I walked up to him and said I don't speak whatever that was and I'm here to forklift so where do I go.
He kinda of apologised about the days brief being delivered in a foreign language and walked me down to where id be working to meet my colleague.
He spoke to him for 4mins in again in another language I cant speak and for the next 3 weeks me and this guy literally communicated via a translator app on our phones.
This was Wandsworth in Poland obviously so dunno what my problem was![]()
it's more than half of NI so not tinyStill tiny compared to Income tax, NIC and VAT...
we had companies where all new jobs were filled by agencies who recruited exclusively in PolandI've heard similar stories to yours in distribution. When they couldn't get the Brits to fill the jobs they were advertised abroad with specific agencies - then any English speaking workers (such as Brits) would be put in the stores. Sometimes in new developments there would be conditions attached to planning to employ local workers, yeah right, so the foreign workers then only had to move into the area, then they were local lol.

On Polish wages or UK wages ?
it's more than half of NI so not tiny
Just a guess, the wages would be paid to the agencies who then pay their employees, so not sure how that all works legally with foreign workers if they would still have to be paid our minimum wage?
uk wages i.e. minimum wage for mostOn Polish wages or UK wages ?
your idea of tiny and mine clearly differsStill a relative minnow compared to Income tax, NIC and VAT ... but don't take my word for it ...

I'm not sure mate, UK employment law has probably brought it all into alignment now. But I remember years ago a Hindu temple was being built in the UK and they were bringing in Indian stonemasons to and paying them something like £8 per day
