He missed his chance to come back when he chose Saudi. Then maybe, but not now. Nothing to do with moral choices, just not good enough for us now.
Maybe right m8, but his experience and ability to transfer that on to the youngsters just coming through may be invaluable

I think they were unbeaten in the 9 he started though weren’t they? He helped steady the ship for sure. I know match ratings aren’t the be all and end all, especially playing in a division but of those 9 games he averaged a 7.5 - over the course of the season that would be an incredible figure which indicates he played fairly well for them.

I agree I think many want him for the player he was, and he simply will not be that good anymore. In my opinion though he could offer a lot to the club for what I’ve mentioned above from the experience he’s gained as a captain on the biggest stage, to coaching Neil, to offering something on the pitch. Jonny Howson is 36 and he’s been decent for Boro last few seasons whilst being nowhere near the player Hendo was. Slow as piss anarl
The manager change helped steady the ship, think the games they were undefeated against was quite an easy run of games so I wouldn't read too much in to that

He would offer more off the pitch than on it imo, I just wouldn't want him coming in and blocking the pathway of our CMs. We have 4 hugely talented young CMs (jobe rigg neil n aleksic) n bringing in a 7th CM would impact that

The only way henderson coming in makes sense is if Samehs loan doesn't work n it gets ended

If his legs have gone then maybe wait a year till he’s looking to hang his boots up and bring him in to learn as a coach. Put him on the pitch with the young’uns to support in the u21 games and teach etc. To bring him in as a player has an impact on the squad, the development pathways for the younger lads coming through, for Samed, Neil, Jobe and Rigg as there are only 11 places on the pitch. The one area Speakman hasn’t really started building up yet to best of my knowledge is coach development. Henderson would be a big statement in that area although LON would be too if he stays long enough.

I’m sure I read somewhere that Henderson’s mum said he would never play for Sunderland again

Hope the lass is right, must be the the worst thing we could do, ask a greedy money grabber with zero morals to come and work with the best set of youngsters we’ve ever had, no thank you let him go and find another club who will listen to his pathetic excuses.

Forgot about Aleksic. Another I hope we see a bit of soon. I am starting to wonder about Samed tbh. Supposedly wont be fit after this break. Season is ticking along and we cant get a loanee on the pitch. He had a poor end to last season in terms of games played I thinl too. I wonder if it might all be a thanks but not thanks in Jan? Then maybe a bit of sense with Henderson. At least he is fit enough to get on the pitch.

There is no doubting he would bring standards off the pitch. But to be honest we dont see these young lads getting that side wrong. I reckon the likes of Jobe have had these standards since they were 14 or 15.

For me I am quite happy to watch the 4 young lads, plus Browne, navigate our season in centre midfield. Samed is a bonus at this point, hope it works, certainly be nice for Neil to be pushed harder from another player for his spot.

I don't see any way Henderson will be signed to play for us. Just don't think we need him,and it certainly doesn't fit our MO.

I keep reading about these standards he’d bring off the pitch, his standards are way lower than anyone at SAFC, we have at the moment the best standards of any club in the country, how is he going to improve them?

Why are people assuming his legs have gone because he’s not starting every game for Ajax?

He doesn’t necessarily need to be bombing all over the pitch here anyway. He’d surely be a rotation option for the ‘6’?

If the club think the money is right, his experience alone could be massive for our younger players. He doesn’t have to play every week or ‘block’ anyone.

He wants to leave his 80k a week or whatever it is at Ajax because he isn't playing every week.

I doubt he fancies dropping to a few grand a week not to play.

I can't believe people don't think he'd walk into our team. He's better than all of our midfielders. Get him in for this season to get over the line, then have a chat pre season depending on the outcome

one thing regarding this whole hendo thing, does any other club's fanbase gag for their former players like us?
