It's not low and it's certainly nothing personal against the bloke, but if he couldn't do it in a Sheffield United team he's not going to do it for ours. His 1 goal in what, 7 games, and a pen miss shows he's not going to be lighting any fires.
The goal was very well taken. He only needed a moment, we haven’t had a striker who can do that for a long time. Yes it’s only 1 goal, but he shows promise. I can’t help thinking he would do better playing fast counter attacking or high press. But then I guess most strikers would.
I quite like archer, he’s pacey and can actually shoot. My issue is that we brought him in seemingly to be our number one striker. He should have been the one we brought in to nurture and develop alongside a proper striker.
I think the issue is more that we don't play in a way that is right for him. He needs space in behind defenders to run on to through balls. We build up play so slowly, that defenders tend to be back in position when we have the ball. That was the difference on Saturday - Fernandes played an instinctive through pass for him to run on to, rather than endlessly trying to unpick a lock around the area.
RM doesn’t play 2 up front together. If, he plays those 2, it’ll more likely be a really wide Archer & TP in middle.
To get into this argument, we cant use the 2 starts as he scored his only Premier League goal as a sub I think he will score about 9-12 though.
