Suppose there must have been something lacking in his early days as it seemed Crystal Palace were happy to move him on to Watford. Turned out rather well in the end though eh, even better than Jim Lawton - he one of those you STAND there - that used to be possible ! wondering how they ever became a Pro. Sorry Jim if you're still around.
You are safe Nick, he died in 2019. Another one that the club bought when he was injured. Not one of Ken Furphy's finest buys, but his replacement Barry Endean was something else.
Perhaps JL was always injured then, but probably shouldnt be saying that. Dont think you get Endean 'burst on the scene' stories any more. Looked like he could have had an additional career as a Boxer !
Endean... was he good?? Or did he just try hard and have a few flukes? Mind you I grew up with hyim and chanted his name ...he was a hero then
Right place at the right time - the team played to his strengths - perfect for that level of football. Sadly was found wanting later/higher up.
I remember his first goal for us - in a 4-0 cup victory at Cheltenham. After the game a large group of us linked arms and danced down the middle of the street chanting "Barry Endean, Barry Endean, Barry Endean, Barry Barry" Fun days...
I was in the Rookery The state of that pitch, imagine the overpaid and overhyped Prem divas playing on that Elf and safety would never allow it
RIP Johan Neeskens One of the stars of one of the greatest national sides ever from the 74 World Cup.
Had to look him up as I'd never heard of him - and still don't know of him. Sounds like mental health issues brought on by drugs?
Yes... way too young and musically boy bandish for me to have heard of him Drugged and drunk...and fell..tragic
Yes - one of the bands created by X Factor so probably a lot of fame very young which got too much and eventually got out of control.
