If he has ILR he can come and go as he pleases - given been here 7 years? I’d imagine already has it as lfc would have had to extend his original visa anyway so easer to get just ilr as a one off cost. Makes no sense to extend a visa behind 5 years
Yes but not for extended times. If you leave for 2 years then you lose it so you can only leave the UK for however long and come back to prove you are resident. He is from Egypt so doesn't fall under any of the agreed dispensations so it seems to be a 2 year maximum time to go and come back. He can apply for the status and pay for it to get that status for him and all his family (presume they did it, why not?) But unless he goes the next step.and gets citizenship (which would not go down well at home probably) then he has to relain to have right to remain. I agree totally he should.have been got one onto that status for visa but it will be broken if he goes to Saudi
Yeah, but I doubt he's a tory. Hope not anyway. But yeah I'd just guess they type of visa given gives them a lot of perks over and above the normal folk but it still comes back to citizenship or resident status.

I didn't read the link so thought that it was an Ireland related story and guessed that the Ireland comment was about Grealish and Rice.
