My fiance, as all Norwegians do, uses it and it's nearly impossible to quit. I've tried it twice and nicotine sickness came after about 10 minutes. This is apparently standard and you simply develop an extreme tolerance. They have flavours, blends etc. But it's essentially: a brown packet, which is pure tobacco, white essentially menthol and then "loose snus" which is just unpacked you shove up your gums. I don't see the appeal, but I never really saw the appeal of smoking either. So what do I know.
Never heard of this Snus until Welshie mentioned it. I've had a little read up on it and it's not something that appeals to me.
I would have thought with the continued stabbings in this country our politicians would have had better things to be dealing with.
You tuck it up between lip and gum. And that's it. Until you feel off your nut! You don't get the visuals of smoking a cig/vape. I can see how they become very addictive though, by seeing how much others use them. People I know who do seem zoned out at times, especially when combined with a few beers.
I worked for one of the Big tobacco companies for 12 months and did some work on their Research & Development stuff with their scientists - the top Bod took me around the Lab to show me all the stuff they were working on, the majority of which was vapes - there was a safe type container in part of the lab - in that they kept the pure liquid nicotine concentrate - I asked the rather obvious question of why was it locked away like that? - he replied that if one drop of that pure nicotine was to land on my skin it would more than likely kill me - it really is that toxic...
Parlament reconvenes next week, hopefully after another death knife crime is top of the agenda. MP's of all parties need to be making this their priority, if not how many more children have to die before they do?
Will not take very long to get to that number... young people aged under 25 were murdered with a knife or sharp object in the 12 months to March 2023. 10 were aged under 16. 233 murders involving a knife or sharp instrument in England and Wales in the 12 months to March 2024. 3,888 the number of admissions into NHS hospitals in England and Wales for assault by a sharp object in the year ending March 2024. 50,510 Police-recorded offences involving a knife or sharp instrument (up to March 2024) https://benkinsella.org.uk/knife-crime-statistics/
I don't think brb is at "outrage age" is he? Usually for people to be outraged by a stabbing the victim needs to be under the age of 15 and over the age of 65
Straight forward enough question though, how many more kids have to die before we actually do something about knife crime. It's just a statistic that seems to be acceptable due to the lack of action. A 13 year old killed, oh well seems to be the attitude.
I know Sucky used to post about it enough on the crime thread during the Tory reign, hence why I say all MP's have a responsibilty for these loss of young lives. More flowers, more mourning and very little action. Don't know if it is a City thing, pretty it sure it's not though. We chat about Americans not dealing with gun crime, well we don't deal with knife crime, as per that link I put up it's just another statistic and I think that's sad. I should have added the murder I'm on about is the one in Oldbury, so that's a Town.
