This is total madness. Paying a wedge for a striker who’s played CL football when the club desperately needs a striker and then loan him out to Belgian club.
Just read that and thought exactly the same. Who is deciding he's one for the future rather than the now? Erol careful with his words. 'He's a club signing', suggesting he didn't have a say in it.
I'm hearing Tom Cannon being negotiated on loan from Steve Cooper's Leicester............don't shoot the messenger!
Bonkers that we'll spend £1.7M on a 20 year old then loan him out, but sign in a 21 year old in on loan.
Not a lot of experience. 36 games 10 goals. 1 in 3.6 track record. Hard to judge and not what I thought we were looking for.
Simic pictured holding the city shirt (name but no number). Tomorrow he'll be in Belgium holding the Kortrijk shirt.
What a shocking day. Buy a striker and loan him to Tan's other club. Total piss take. Fair chance I'd say that he never plays for us. L1 here we come.
Ah well, that sort of fizzled out. No game changing signing that Erol wanted. We look a bit light in the full back slots and still very samey at 9. Some depth, but no real quality. OK Erol, the cards have been dealt. It's up to you and your backroom staff to see how well you can play your hand.
Can't say I'm overly glum Sparkey. A little confused, but not glum. As I've said previously, I think it's been a reasonable window for us. More positives than negatives. The overall structure still seems a bit muddled and you do wonder who is pulling the strings. CB is the prime example. Daland, Chambers and McGuiness collectively seem good business. Tsunoda still seems an odd one. Fish could be a shrewd move longer term. There seem to have been a couple signings more aligned to next season or the one after. I'm OK with that if it's part of a longer term plan. Heaven knows, we need that, not more of the flip flopping of the last 7-8 years. We still have a couple short term needs. LB and RB look most exposed. Still unsure about the keeping position and we're crying out for a decent 9. Like you I feel Robinson will come good this year, but it's very samey after that. I think there's cause for optimism from the academy though I'm a bit nonplussed by the last two loans. Again, not sure what the board's expectancy is this season and whether they actually are looking longer term. I'd be OK with a similar finishing position to last year, maybe top 10, with an improved style of play and a more solid foundation in playing staff. I think I'm reading too much into it as I don't believe Tan, Choo and Dalman know enough about football to be that forward thinking. Oh, and I've got us down for a win today.
