Played well in the away leg in play off against us. Also started season well according to my baggies colleagues and ripped stoke apart on Saturday. Very highly rated at the Albion
I know I said I didn’t go on Twitter but I did to read some of the comments on this. They are very upset about this and saying the usual “10m only gets his boot”. Which I assume means we ignore it because it’s positive?

I don’t want to end my new season of positivity too early, but I have to say..

Our recruitment has been surprisingly ****e so far, even by our incredibly low standards
I like most of the signings we've made, but we still haven't got a striker. We've been looking for one of those for about 4 years and failed every time. 3 days to go and it looks like it could well fail again. Archer has talent but he's not our Pelle or SRL.
And keeper situ still a mess

Our 2 problem positions - striker and goalkeeper - haven’t been addressed.

We are weaker in attacking midfield.

We are roughly the same elsewhere. If KWP stays you could say we have improved the defence I guess.

Not very impressed. Still time though

I guess it depends if you think keeping Downes and THB is worth it. Those two cost £38m combined which seems to be roughly half our budget, making it pretty hard to address all the other areas in this window

I would say that Fellows is probably better than Edozie at the moment, but they would both benefit from another year (or two) in the Championship.

Difficult to answer “no” to that really. If we hadn’t signed THB then we would haven probably needed to spend similar on a new CB. And our play without Downes last season was truly horrific. And if we hadn’t signed him then Ipswich would have and the meltdown among saints fans would have been absolutely nuclear. There is already plenty of gnashing of teeth at their transfer business and the assumption that they have beaten us to a raft of signings

Out of interest - why Pelle and SRL in the same sentence ? Hold up play? Because it can’t be goal record. Hold up play striker with a relatively unspectacular goal record seems to be what this Brazilian is. But our fans seem to think we can get both even though those players now go for well over 30m if not usually over 40m

I think we need that type of striker, to allow all our other potential goal scorers to have someone to play off rather than the central void we currently have.
Goals are secondary benefit if he creates opportunities around him.
We haven't landed the Brazilian yet, but he might be what we need

We've needed a right winger ever since Tella left, This would be a smart signing.
A player that you'd think might be happy to stay if we likely get relegated.

Albion fans suggesting the number has to start with a 2 and Percy saying the offer is deemed ‘well below’ what would be expected makes me think we shouldn’t waste too much time here
I'm on the fence here. I do like Fellows but we shouldn't be held to ransom either. I think £15mill plus a sell on clause is a fair deal.
