I hear you, there is fun to be had in that.

There is a small part of me that hopes we fix the CB issues by announcing the signing of Paul Dummett on a free.

It's something people at the bottom understand...it's what drives us to get out of the smoke.

Without pain and suffering there is no motivation.

Lacelles and Wilson would probably have been sold but fortunately for them they are injured, mores the pity!

Wilson yes but I think Lascelles was likely to be kept after last season. Having a "captain" who gets involved with everything and never complains despite very limited playing time is golden - you need some squad players like that - especially when you see he was actually pretty good in the games he played. If he was fit right now I'd be much happier with out team, there I said it. Last season he actually looked good.

I have no doubt whatsoever that they'll sign Guehi.

If they'd signed a rw people would be crying that they didn't sign another cb or another striker.

We've got Hendrick, Dummett, Ritchie and Karius released.

Something will be sorted out with Fraser going to Soton, no one will take Hayden and Lewis but at least the others have been moved on.

If we end the window signing Guehi, so our result is him, Hall, Osuna, Pivas and Kelly, I think it's ok.

Weren't they all end of contract? So our options were offer new contract, or watch them leave? Not what I'd quantify as effective squad management! And is Karius worse than Ruddy?!

We'll see. If they get rid of Fraser, Hayden, Lewis and Targett, or maybe just two of those four, that's not too bad. As it stands we have 5 LB's and 5 GK's. Most of whom are crap.

Hall was obligation, that cannot be counted, and Pivas isn't going to impact the first XI either. We've taken on a few youngsters, him included, which coiuld bode well for the future. But I'm purely talking about the ambitions and capability of the first XI, which means ending the window with - at best - Guehi, Osula and Kelly. I think that's crap.

If we'd signed both I'd be moaning about the keeper, and the fact LB is still quite poor and hasn't been addressed since Pardew was here.

I think my happiness with NUFC will always be some distance from the clubs achievements.

The club will never be successful that's the best position to take.

Omg calling him a clown.. he's trying ! Close to breaking a transfer record.

There's worse on Tw@tter than this!

I think the issue is - don't interview like this unless you've got a really clear idea that you can move forwards, it just looks disingenuous/misleading and makes it hard to then trust the guy. The worst thing about Guehi is I don't think a single fan is going to really celebrate paying £70m for him. If we'd offered £70m July 1st, he'd have been a Newcastle player. Now he's going to have a huge expectation on his head, and from what I've seen this season (and sometimes last) he's far from perfect. For £70m, you should be buying perfection. The likes of Bastoni, Martinez, Diaz, etc. all cost less.

maybe the players you've listed don't want to live here. Maybe they tried and failed with many names over the past few months.

Maybe they got a bite from Guehi and made a decision.

Newcastle are not as appealing as we like to think... everyone now knows the projects aim is a decade away and players want that now.

Sure, but someone has to then explain how we got Bruno, Botman, Isak and Tonali. It doesn't really matter how it's spun, this window makes zero sense.

If I was manager I would have kept hold of Karius long-term, maybe even made him a coach.

Anything to keep his wife in my life:
