Thank yourself lucky you aren't subject to minimum pricing on alcohol units(currently set at 50p per unit). The end of next month will see it rise to 65p!!

    One word....Twats.

That only affects the cheap gutrot stuff, doesn’t it? I normally drink cans of John Smiths at home or Desperados in 650 Ml bottles. Smiths has 1.6 units which comes to £1.06 minimum pricing under the new 65p per unit. Less than the £1.25 a can I pay. Desperados has 3.8 units which is £2.47. It is £2.50 a bottle in Morrisons and £3 a bottle in Tescos so doesn’t increase that price either.

Much depends on what your tipple is.

Wine(albeit cheaper types such as hock and liebfraumilch) are dearer in Scotland. And spirits, currently sitting at a minimum price of £14,are set to rise(off the top of my head) to £18.20.

The minimum I can pay for a 10 pack of Strongbow cider is £8.80(though it's £11-£12 as a rule,as we don't get everything at minimum pricing:emoticon-0148-yes:).Go to Asda in England,Carlisle for example and you're getting deals like 3 packs of beer or cider for £20.If a can gets damaged in the supermarket up here and they 'sell the pack off','cheap...They multiply 9 cans @ 88p for a scraggy old taped up box, needless to say,it stays put.

I used to like cider. But used to feel crap the day after drinking a load of it. Not a hangover, just crap.
As a type 2 diabetic not surprising considering the amount of sugar in a lot of ciders, many of which only have a fleeting acquaintance with an apple. Fortunately my favourite, Henry Weston’s Vintage Cider is a proper cider and 8.2% ABV a lot of the sugar has turned to alcohol so it relatively low in sugar.
Some of the figures are concerning. https://www.express.co.uk/life-styl...type-2-drinks-alcohol-cider-high-blood-sugars

Good stuff, especially with a rum chaser. The effect that combination has is cheaper and quicker than going down the pub.<laugh>

When I was driving in LA there were several other drivers alongside me with laptops and paperwork open on their steering wheels so they could get on with their work at the wheel.
They didn’t stop even when the traffic speeded up to a decent level!
