True. Just switched for less than my current provider, SKY. Never had a problem with SKY’s service but they have put theirs up to us long standing customers charging more than new ones so decided to switch. Hope I don’t have to repent at leisure.<laugh>
Same happened with me when my BT contract (broadband, tv) came up for renewal recently.
I received a letter that very clearly stated that I would be offered the best option at the best price. It then gave me just one option for renewal at an absolutely ridiculous price that was near enough £30 a month more than for a new customer, and also considerably more than I could get by going on-line and choosing better, more suitable, cheaper options.
I called them up to call them out. After rejecting out of hand what I was initiallly offered on the phone, I ended up with a pretty decent deal, with a much better broadband speed and for way less than I was paying.
I wrote a complaint to BT and the other day got a waffling response from a Complaint Handler that said he empathises, he agrees the letter is mis-leading, it's a very common complaint that he gets regularly, etc (quite astounding admissions) but no remedy other than the feedback will be passed on.
I've now also complained to Ofcom as I'm pretty disgusted by their renewal process, including that new customers are offered better deals (as well as the grossly misleading renewal letter and how I was offered nothing like 'the best option at the best price', but only got a decent offer through persistence and haggling.
I'm otherwise very happy with BT / EE tbf, and my upgrade to full fibre went so smoothly, but this renewal process is so wrong.

Neil Warnock once gave a random 14-year-old a run-out in a pre-season friendly, revealed Paddy Kenny…

“We were playing a game, we're all there getting changed before we go out. Warnock's brought this young kid in about 14-years-old.

"This young kid has come in with his dad and we were like 'what's going off here, why would he be playing?'.

"We were like, eh? Anyway this young kid comes on, plays 20 minutes, pre-season I think it was Bodmin we were playing.

"We found out afterwards the lad's dad had decorated Warnock's house, so instead of paying he gave his lad 20 minutes of a pre-season game."

Was watching the service for one of the little girls murdered in Southport. Have had to switch over as was tearing up.

A few years ago my youngest lad went to a festival where Iron Maiden were playing. There was a loud noise overhead and a Spitfire landed nearby. Bruce Dickinson had helped greatly with the cost of restoration and they gave him permission to fly it. He has been know to pilot jumbo jets as well.
