I've got to say that I'm not at all disappointed at the prospect of going out of the Europa. Leave it to £ity and the Chavs to fight over. I'd trade 3rd in the EPL for winning the Europa. Having said that, we are not out of it just yet. I'd say we've got more chance of getting through to the next stage than the Gooners have of getting the last 8 in the CL.
Are we that bothered considering how we are doing overall? Its a shame there wont be many games for the youngsters now but I think there would of been more first teamers in the next round and I would rather we just concentrated on our fine league form!! Top 4 has to be a priority no matter what!
You mean like the commentators on Five, who said it was a penalty? Sending off was harsh, but the penalty was the correct call. Where's the ref from the Italy/Holland game at Euro 2008 when you need him? On the plus side, Palace won the Croydon derby.
Well have a good time in Italy.Never like to lose but we didn't deserve much more and on the plus side ManU LOL.
PNP this is the one area where something must be done.Pav is going no question, that leaves us Ade Defoe and Kane?? not including VDV as he is not an out and out striker. This is quite obviously not enough ,one injury and we're f*****.
Thanks Pats but I work in Italy most of the time. Anyway I notice a mixture of relief and disappointment with the match tonight. I'm seriously happy that we are out of it.
Does Alex Ferguson do specsavers in the premiership Schtenffen? If they had been watching then by 15 to 20 minutes later they would have known the Ref eventually got it right disallowed goal wise. I actually like watching Spurs on the Tele as their games are usually entertaining so no axe to grind with them from me at all just in case anyone thinks this is an attempt at Wumming. Unusually they didn't look that interested until it was too late tonight.
Well don't work to hard then.I agree i think the longer the comp went on the more inconvenient it would have become, unless we won it (even then it could have cost us a top 4 spot).
Defoe was useless tonight - he barely did anything except foul the guy on the goal-line. If Pav had played that poorly there would be howls of derision yet some people have been saying we should drop VdV for Defoe. We should sell him and Pav and bring in someone who has the quality to play up front
I'm not. Not at all. We had a good opportunity to keep our squad players fresh and happy, while blooding some youngsters, but we've blown it. It's a shame that the likes of Huddlestone, Sandro, Pienaar and Kranjcar have missed so much of it through injury. Having said that, our more experienced squad players badly underperformed tonight, in the main.
We haven't taken it seriously from the start so what can you expect PNP.The youngsters can get you so far and alot of the players tonight were playing their 1st game since injury. It's not realistic to think they can just click into place, which was evident to all in the 1st half. Yes some underperformed but again because they haven't played much together or often. There wasn't anyone who covered themselves in glory i'm afraid.
To cheer us up, "Last time PAOK put an English team out of a European competition was Arsenal, in 1997-98 season, who went on to do the double. A good omen for Tottenham..."
I know you're not on the wum and I agreed with most of what you said but it was a rather confusing situation and you tend not to get the most even handed from supporters in general regardless so I'm not sure why it'd surprise you.
I agree completely Pat, but it was a little galling to see the same sort of football that cost us a top 4 place last season. Still, I guess we can't complain too much at the moment, can we?
Not sure about that. If it was a penalty then an offence must have taken place and denying a goalscoring opportunity by foul play is an automatic red card. So the ref has to give both or neither
Missed the 2nd half but heard about a controversial moment where a goal for you was disallowed. Details?
No wasn't great to watch PNP i just hope it doesn't effect our league form.If it doesn't then it's not a great loss tbh, if we lose to Bolton then i will be p**** off.
Actually Schteffen you are probaly right. I shouldn't be surprised. The one that would have gotten a lot shouting would have been if the goal was disallowed a few minutes after the fact and Defoe had then been red carded. To think that it was eventually deemed a foul yet there was not even a booking. The 5th official got the original decision right but he did miss out on that one fortunately for Defoe. He clearly saw it to give the Ref the nod.
