I really hope that this season we, as a club, take this for what it is. Another league, another series of football games. I think there is far too much awe and respect given to the PREMIER League like its from a different planet and populated by superheroes. We've been here before with better and worse teams than this but none of that matters or is relevant now. Get out there, play the way we want to play and just ****ing go for it. If we do that and lose I'll be ok with it. If we win, I'll be happy.

I really don’t think we have ever been here with a worse team (against the general standard of the league) but I do think we have been here with worse managers.

Ipswich signing Clarke from Sunderland for 15 mill plus add ons and Broja from Chelsea on loan but must buy him if they stay up for 30 mill. If he scores lots of goals it wi They are certainly giving it a go this year.

Reading on the BBC webpage, that Textor wants to sell his remaining shares at Crystal Palace. A lot of Palace fans will be happy with this news as he had a rather strained relationship with their "ultras." viewing them as nothing more than hooligans and troublesome where is in fact they express relevant social views, the best beiing their banner a few years ago when they played Newcastle.

honestly, I think the team we have is pretty good. It’s not lambert, lallana, schneiderlin good but it’s def Cedric, hoedt, yoshida, Austin good. We can make a good fist of this season if we really believe and go for it.

It also isn't Lambert et all good as they became legends by what they did. Our current players still have that story to write.

Similarly I think we have a worse squad on an individual basis than last time we were in the PL, but a much more cohesive team.

I back us to do better than we did in the relegation season, but whether it will be enough I am not sure.

My prediction for the season is an optimistic 17th.

After Man United had a goal ruled out. Seems like the luck they used to have has not only run out but reversed

Good to see Buendia back in Villa's squad after his serious injury. I kind of forgot he existed.

I wonder if they might be open to loaning him out in order to get some regular football?...

Very early to say it but from what I’ve seen so far at the start of the season it’s 3 from 4 to get relegated.

3 promoted teams plus Everton

It feels poetic that in their final season at Goodison, Everton finally get relegated.

With Leicester, so much will come down to the size of their points deduction.
