Not entirely sure what this anecdote is even supposed to mean. Don't argue with stupid people. They will drag you down to their level and best you with experience.
Well the Conservatives have historically been centre right and they have starved our public services for 15 years - so struggling to see this as centrist. Centre left, maybe.
I'll agree on centre left for sure. I think we can all agree that austerity was a bad political decision, was far too harsh, went on far too long and ultimately led us to our current position of infrastructural scarcity across the country that is unable to meet the need of the citizens.
Or cope with migration in large numbers, hence immigration becoming demonised by equally downtrodden people who are already here
This is a very key one and completely true! The problem however is that this is not what the talking heads on the airwaves and the social platforms say. They instinctively point to a race based issue whether that be "inproportianate numbers of non white british...blah blah" when if they said what you havev said I think we would be in a much better place by now! The insisitence that it is all about race as a demographic rather than circumstance, that a much higher % of minorities are likely to be in those poorer communities, is what there is a problem with. It isn't actually a race thing at all, it is a social demographic problem that skews the numbers and the politicians and their mouthpieces across the media could address this issue exactly as you have instead of using it as an opportunity to divide which in turn gives opportunity to those bad eggs that actually are racist or trying to drive a racist agenda to oppose. If these politicians would just be honest and open instead of focusing on their division tactics it would be much easier to oppose the minority of far right voices but they don't because they are quite happy to play games, make it all about a "pet" subject and then accuse their opponents of division. This is only one example. You are quite correct in what you say but this is not the only issue where politicians prefer to play games and then blame their opponents for problems. You could probably pull 90% of the politician's pet subject angles into this same scenario where they are not interested in it being purely a "class" issue because that does not suit the argument or the divisions they want to maintain to try and herd their votes. I dareasy a lot of issues would be less volatile in this era if only those that have the voices in the world that have mass reach could just stop ignoring facts and try to make every issue about something else. It is one reason I have gradually moved away from being interested in politics as social media has gathered pace and politicians / commentariat are not interested in the reality, purely interested in 10 second soundbites rather than any actual evidence based policy decisions! And before Brexit is mentioned. I am talking historic numbers based evidence not some wonk making forecasts on the future to support the side they support.
Including previous migrants / immigrants. Talk to them! you would be surprised! and possible relieved that the majority have not taken the "British Citizen Route" and thus are ineligible to vote in General elections! Being married to one and having worked with so many I communicate more with No Brits than Brits by a large margin and I can tell you that they aren't overly happy with the consequences of what has happened since they arrived either!
Lol. Its too enjoyable seeing Lily Allen falling on her sword on twitter. She's taking a pasting tonight and rightly so. Fake as fake comes she is. And on the football front. No more personality vacuum Jermaine Jenas. Now if they can get rid of Danny Murphy, Joe Cole we'll be closer. and then Karen Carney, Eni Eluko, Owen Hargreaves, Rio Ferdinand. In fact anyone who is sooo serious and miserable punditing or commentating at football, never seeing positives and always moaning about football. Its supposed to be enjoyable you winkers.......as long as we don't get to Jonathan Pearce levels of shouting like Davina Macall in his commentary then it will be OK. somewhere innetween with positivity, showing they enjoy football and are a little more upbeat. Add Jonathan Pearce and Davina Macall to that list as well for shouting too much Why can't they all just be Isa Guha?
Is this politics? I guess you could make a case that a bunch of the pundits you listed won’t get fired for a pretty obvious reason. But there are loads of terrible pundits of every demographic who have also been in place far too long. Alan Shearer for example. I can’t stand the “jobs for the boys” nature of football punditry. And even more so when it’s tax payer funded
It ties in. Lily Allen spends her time being an SJW; calling Torys scum, moaning about gammons on her podcast, darling of CH4 news. Jermaine Jenas likes to wade in on politics, been on QT,was supposedly favourite to take over from Lineker on MOTD. Was one of those "celebs" caught out using charity schemes to avoid taxes the other year.......hilariously within days of being on a QT backing the suggestion of "tax the rich" policies! So both commentariat that like to give their "holier than thou" viewpoints out...........
Gets a puppy from a rescue kennel. Creates Insta page for the dog to drum up engagement for self. Puppy chews up passports she left on the floor. Returns puppy to rescue kennel. Tells this story laughing about it on her podcast that she calls people gammons and other bad names. Looking for a different puppy now!! Twitter awash with lots of people with their FPBE and Ukraine flags next to their monik ers (so not righties then) calling her a C***! Lots of the C*** word abounding. lolz result: Instigator and inciter of pile ons is..........on receiving end
Football pundits and Cricket pundits are going to be chalk and cheese though aren’t they Football punditry in the style of Radio Test Mach special with Johnners, Richie et al wouldn’t really work now would it Are there any you like though? Kenneth Wolstenholme, David Colemanballs? I like that there’s more analysis now and Linneker, Shearer, Big Meeks and Wrighty are my faves for entertainment value But I’m a happy clapper on this topic as long as Hoddle and McCoist aren’t involved
Yeah I thought I spent too much time online at times. But I suppose I do generally avoid Twitter as it is a hellscape
A knife attack in Solingen tonight. Several dead. Thought I would get on before anyone made any assumptions. With the state of Germany at the moment this could easily be Islamic terror or Right Wing nationalism. With it being Solingen I don’t think the knife thing points any particular direction as the town is a historical centre for knife production.
