Are there any of you on here. It isnt me, its the lass I share the house with.

Has anyone got one of those smart watches that monitors your levels?

If so, is it any good? Easy to use? What brand is it and how much?

My mate has Type 1 and he uses his smart watch. He swears by it
I'll try and find out what app he uses...

This was his message back to me

So it depends on what glucose monitor he has….. if he has one…. I have a Dexcom G7.

I’ve also had the Libre 2 sensor in the past… and there is a Libre 3 out now that I believe is very similar to Dexcom G7.

If he doesn’t have a sensor then I’d highly recommend getting one…. and I’d personally pick the G7 - but Libre & Dexcom are very similar.

Hello mate. I’ve been diabetic since 1977 (I was 2)! So been through it all. I am type 1 , is your housemate 1 or 2?

Is she on insulin injections/tablets/insulin pump?

I haven’t even seen the smart watches to be honest, but, from chatting to people I know, they seem to rate them very highly. I’m a little skeptical, so can’t see how a tiny micro needle just through the skin can give an accurate reading! But that doesn’t make me right! I have a. 4mm filament which I put in myself in the sensor.

She takes tablets (well she hasnt been and she was very confused) Been to the doctors twice, I went the second time as the first time she went the prescription from the doctor was to rehydrate her, which I thought was strange, turns out she hadnt mentioned confusion or memory loss on the first visit! However I was there yesterday and explained the confusion and memory loss, not once was her diabetes mentioned, she must have tested herself today and realised, she hasnt been taking her medication, phoned Diabetes UK and been told to get back to the doctors.

Not sure what type she is

If she’s tablets only she is most likely type 2.

There are a few watches out there. Some need a sensor adding which feeds the information to the watch (I would go for them for accuracy), and some have micro needles on the back which measure the glucose through that. At @TopCat_ says, I would more recommend the freestyle Libre or dexcom g7. These have been much better researched and used, but it does mean changing a sensor every few days.

The dehydration is a natural occurrence through ketosis, which occurs if your body is not producing the insulin it needs or is not using it very well.

Can lead to very serious diabetic ketoacidosis. Been through it 4 times in my life and it is hell on speed!!

The recommendation was based on the fact she never mentioned anything to do with confusion or memory loss, she couldnt remember why she had gone there and told them she had the runs!!!!! I only found this out as I was with her yesterday and asked what happened on Monday!, She cant even remember being there on Monday!

Wow. Only time I’ve ever had that is when blood sugar is very low. Not had it since my daughter was a baby (14 now). Never had it due to high blood sugar.
