I saw that earlier it doesnt look good especially as we haven't signed anyone. Seems a lot of rumours of players leaving especially some of our promising youngsters but nothing coming in. It gives me the impression we don't really have much money and digging down the back of the sofa to find anything we can.

It sort of makes sense based on last year. We were only in europa and then had a long delay and massive expenses on anfield road end and to top thst off we had to replace the midfield and had a higher net spend last year.

A glance at the still unfinished fan zone and cladding on the anfield road end shows a complete mess that's not getting finished. Why?

The annual accounts published probably March might show a massive loss for all we know. The club knows but we will only know when it's made public.

I just feel it might be quite ugly.

I said yesterday alot of these youth players won't have the same meaning to Slot as Klopp.

Klopp bought them (or at least the club under Klopp) with an idea to develop them. So them getting game time shows the work Klopp and his team were doing, it's a sense of pride and a promise they made to the kids when signing them.

Slot has no connection to them, so unless he sees real potential in them he's not going to be as interested and if he can raise money by selling them to buy who he wants, then they're going to be sold.
I'd also question how many of these lads would have ever really made it anyway. Seems some of them are the 'maybe next season' players we've been talking about for a while.

Nyoni looks like he could be the breakout from the youth teams this year, so it's not all bad for the youth

I'm not sure that it's a lack of money. Remember we offered £110m for Caicedo which shows that we will push the boat out for the right player so I think funds would be made available rather than a strictly sell to buy.

With regard to the youngsters, it's quite concerning that they are, en masse, feeling ignored. The feel good factor around the academy players was immense, we really should be nurturing that. I'm not going to bang on about Slot here but our club isn't just about the first team. He (and his staff) has to be capable of seeing the whole picture. I hope the young lads are getting mental health support and/or have motivational help.

As my second team is Hull City, send them over here on loan, they need all the players they can get and as shown with Morton and Carvalho, they will get game time.

as for Nyoni being a standout, didn’t we get him from Leicester after they developed him?

Decent article about our transfer activity (or lack of) on Sky Sports today. Question though, when did making signings become an essential component?

I'm 100% in the 'no signing is better than a bad signing' camp and very much happy to see what happens. If the right player isn't available and we don't sign anyone, so be it.

I'm more concerned (as the article points out) about Trent, VVD and Salah atm

Valid points, signings are not an essential component from my view but my I think we all want us to succeed. Last season we got close but i feel we got a little bit of a bump in performances because Klopp announced he was leaving which made us look better then we were. So the no signings feels to me like we havent improved if anything we have lost some squad depth at this moment in time. The Salah, Trent and VVD situation is worrying if worst case scenario happens and they dont sign and leave for free next summer, thats 3 massive holes to fill next season with no money towards the replacements. And clubs will just bump the prices up as they know we will be desperate. I feel we should have been looking at a CB this summer as even if VVD signs still feel he needs replacing sooner rather then later and in my opinion Konate is not the answer.

I'm fairly relaxed on the transfer situation. I do have a concern in that it's going to be a season of possibly 60+ games which means rotation and with Slot seemingly not trusting the youngsters, as evidenced by their own words, I'm not convinced that we have strength in depth to cope.

If you think we could make a "bad signing" does that mean you don't trust those responsible for transfers? <whistle>

Looks like Valencia keeper has agreed terms and to a deal to go to Bournemouth on loan.

Don’t mind it as succession planning. Hoping it’s not an only signing.

Agreed the club need to find out what’s happening with the big 3 to work out who needs replacing there.

Not sure why so many are getting so worked up by the young players as we have been stockpiling them so sooner or later a clear out was bound to happen .

    You are probably right.

But you'd hope as the same time maybe just one or two might actually he advanced.

We need a rw. We have 2 young ones. Both are being forced out and there's not a special one coming from lower ages

Never said we could make a bad signing, I don't think we will because I absolutely trust our 'no signing is better than a bad signing' approach

If the young players themselves are feeling ignored then that suggests a problem. I don't think it's ideal to have your own players dissatisfied about happenings at the club.

All young players know that it's hard to break through and the chances of one cohort all breaking through are pretty slim. There's a way to manage all expectations otherwise we'd be seeing this sort of thing all the time. Their evidence suggests a lack of good management. The academy staff hasn't changed so the problem lies somewhere else.

That was Klopp's approach. Do we know that the new set up will be the same?
