I honestly don't think he has. I think.if we sell him we won't be looking at "the one that got away" I dont think he'd even do a solake level. I think there's a bit of a Wilson about him. The games will mostly pass him by and every once in a while something good happens that make people think he's good.
£81m for Alvarez to Atletico. Hate city a much as you want but they have a way of getting absolute top dollar for their unwanted players. Crazy money for a back up striker that scores 1 in 3.
don’t think ever doubted there was stuff going on. It’s been like that for last few years, nothing then lots of movement and within a week player signed. Euros and Copas just messed up timing as players were away. Fact that all the prem transfers happening were for players not playing in either of those comps just shows everyone having same issues.
It makes me wonder if people seriously think that those charged with moving the club forward just sit on their hands all day, just because we're not informed of their intentions on a daily basis. We moan when hacks make **** up, and we moan when we hear nothing. I'm not sure what people expect.
Dont think we need to. We have the numbers there just massively stacked in some areas and missing something in others. We’ve got about 300 midfielders but most are all attacking creative types. Again got about 5 left wingers but only 1 that is comfortable on the right.
My prediction before the season started was one big name and one "who?". I may have to downgrade my expectations. Honestly, don't care if we don't sign anyone this summer, let Slot get a good handle on who he has under him and then back him properly in future windows. I'm not expecting a title push first attempt out, rather play the long game. One thing I admired about Klopp was his transfers were never a numbers game. It was about getting the right players and only the right players. Compare that to the last successful manager we had, Rafa... with Rafa it was always wheeling and dealing with numbers coming and going continuously. (Of course, understand it partially had to be that way because H&G wouldn't back him and he had to sell to buy). I'd rather an FSG/Klopp approach to transfer windows than the H&G/Rafa approach.
I agree with the right player at the right price sentiments. I don't agree with standing still. However I can buy that a new manager with a new style probably isn't 'standing still', but Slot wont be on the pitch as well. As to the very last point. This is what has happened to Liverpool fans, H&G's legacy is that we can only see them as the only other option to FSG in terms of ownership. FSG have been dealt a huge boost that they have followed one of the worst ownerships in football history. There are other ways of running a club.
Sell a load of academy players and sign 30 new players? Gove eveyone crazy wages and money under the table? Take X amount out of the club every year and let the club dwindle into mediocrity? Build a stadium and tie up all your money in there so you can’t compete with wages of top clubs?
