Compared to alisson this lad is just alright. Look, he makes a lot of saves and is quick and agile but everything bounces off him as that's how he's been taught. Kind of like karius. Alisson holds everything. If this means he is off I hope we are at least getting 100mil I would suspect it will be an agent link though
Goalkeepers have a longer shelf life than outfield players so it looks like a link with no substance unless Alisson's looking to leave. Can't imagine he is though.
Would be like Rogers came in and the next summer he bumped down Pepe Reina (who I thought was a great keeper) below new hire Simon Mignolet (who wasn't terrible but was a step down from Reina IMO). Reina didn't need replacing, certainly not by Mignolet.
We will see I suppose. In the end everything we've seen suggests we need to see a keepers ball playing skills just as much as their ball saving skills.
Fabrizio Romano, who isn't as reliable as I once thought, says we will be making some signings this week. If we end up not signing anyone, can we agree that Richard Hughes has the softest job going.
He's a waffler. He simply has the very lucky position thst every agent in Europe pays him to waffle amd they also pay him off with some info to post when the real deal happens He's worked hard on his position in fairness but in reality probably employs a team to a sully.do the work of posting amd just does a few vids around it. That's idle speculation from romano as he first won't k ow amd second won't be called on it but third can say things didn't work out or got delayed. Finally Hughes doesn't have a sfot job. It's about long term here amd hiring the coaching Staff amd managing the whole organisation
So if we sum up what people want us to think: Williams will be gone Koumetio will be gone Phillips will be hard to shift but will go eventually. Beck will be sold not loaned Gomez was targeted but is going nowhere McConnell will be loaned Clark will be loaned but everyone wants us to think he is for sale Morton will be sold Chambers will be loaned Carvalho was the subject of a first bid which will have another following up. Doak will be loaned if he signs a new deal People are desperate for trent to leave us. It all went quiet on gravenberch, kelleher, diaz and even salah lately. Since the copa fight all the nunez chatter went quiet too.
There's 4 weeks left so every week that gets closer to deadline increases the chance that this week is the week. I'd suspect if we were really close to doing a deal we would hear something even if only from the other side of it. Again I am speculating just as much as them but we will see.
We were told weeks ago that nothing would happen until August and then things would start to build up, so I don't know why anyone is getting jumpy about it. The new people haven't even had a chance to see what they've got yet, never mind have an idea what else they want.
Rumours that were interested in the keeper with idea of loaning him out for a season or two before being long term successor for Alisson. Now not a key area to improve but forward planning for Alisson is important. If this is the guy they see replacing him then may be key to act early before he gets snapped up by someone else. Especially if the Saudi interest in Alisson remains
Just alright is A bit harsh. I don’t think comparisons to Karius are right. Karius even in his best YouTube clips pushed everything back out into the middle of the goal. this guy at least pushes a lot wide which is obviously 2nd best to being able to hold it. I think we’re just massively spoiled with Alisson as his handling is 20/20 isn’t anyone better but 95% of keepers aren’t like that
Leicester interested in carvahlo now. Be sad if we moved him on without giving a proper chance in a formation that would much more suit him. But if not in the plans 20m and a sell on fee wouldn't be bad business.
Spurs also interested in Solanke and sounds like we have a decent sell on % there and could be in for about £10m if he moves. Be a nice little bonus - we need to do more of that for the young players we move on. City do it so well
I'm quite relaxed about it all. Just waiting to see what happens - ins and outs. Interesting that we are the only club in the top five European leagues not to have made a signing.
Think he just didn’t quite have a role under klopp. Wasn’t quick enough to be one of the wide players, wasn’t good enough to be one of the CMs. Diff style, less about running ability in midfield and more about possession skill creativity works more to his strengths I think
