please log in to view this image Pompey are ready to rekindle their interest in Aussie international central midfielder Aiden O’Neill. And the Blues will hope Standard Liege’s financial woes could help them to land a bargain in the former Burnley man. Pompey have seen a bid rejected for the 25-year-old, according to reports, as they continue their preparations for the Championship. Plymouth have been credited with being keen on O’Neill, who has three years remaining on his existing deal with the Belgian side. John Mousinho will hope his club’s long-running interest in the Socceroos man leaves them well placed to get a move over the line. Pompey were hot on O’Neill’s trail last year, as they cast their net wide and scoured the Australian market for talent. A lot of due diligence was carried out on the Brisbane-born talent on that occasion, before he opted for a move to Standard. It was a season of struggle, however, as one of the continent’s historic footballing names became embroiled in financial difficulties under the 777 Partners group who failed to buy Everton. That led to a Standard transfer ban and their assets being frozen, with it now apparent they are looking to cash in on players. That leaves Pompey well placed to make their move, though there is said to be interest from Turkey and the MLS for the player. It could well be that a similar path is taken to that of Sammy Silvera, with the Blues quickly ready to pounce for another Aussie when the chance arose because of work previously carried out. O’Neil would bring drive as well as the ability to chip in with some eye-catching goals from a deep-lying midfield position.
Heh my sister in law is gonna have to pick Portsmouth as her second team with all our Australian players

Pompey are giving a trial to 22 year old goalkeeper Cameron Plain, who has just been released by Bournemouth. Midfielder Lee Evans released by Pompey, has signed for Blackpool.
Bournemouth have unveiled 17 year old Koby Mottoh as their latest signing. Although the former Pompey winger will be affiliated with their Under-21 side rather than the Cherries’ Premier League team. The pacy Mottoh was released by the Blues after graduating from the Academy at the end of last season. The former Arsenal youngster was considered one the youth-team’s brightest prospects, yet couldn’t win a professional deal. A big mistake letting him go, as he was an excellent young prospect

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has said trialist Sean Patton has given himself ‘every chance’ of landing a permanent move. Patton, 17, currently plays for Derry City in the League of Ireland. He has been with them for the past few season and was loaned out to Finn Harps earlier this year to get some experience under his belt. The teenager has made six appearances for his current side in all competitions to date. In this latest update regarding his situation, Mousinho has said, as per The News: “I think if you’d looked at the Hawks game, you wouldn’t have thought it was a 17-year-old playing in a men’s game. We think the same about him from the Gosport game and also what he’s done in training, so we’re really pleased and positive about him. “He has given himself every chance. The trialists we bring in, we don’t bring them in for the sake of it. We bring them in with a view to potentially signing them, whether that pans out or not. “It’s very difficult as a triallist, particularly when you’re now trying to get into a Championship squad. But we’ll review that situation and then see where we go from there.”
Portsmouth recruit former Chelsea and Watford Academy coach. Piero Mingoia has quit Vicarage Road to become the under-18s’ new assistant coach, filling the role vacated by Michael Doyle in December. The Blues once again favoured appointing a candidate with Football League playing experience to work alongside Academy lead professional development phase coach Sam Hudson. That has brought Mingoia to Fratton Park this summer, having featured for Watford, Accrington, Cambridge United and Morecambe in his playing career. After choosing a coaching pathway, he spent two years working in Chelsea's Foundation, before last season serving as Watford under-13 and under-15 coach in their Academy. Hudson is delighted with the appointment of the 32-year-old. He told The News: ‘We felt that, alongside my coaching experience and my coaching background, we needed a bit of playing experience as well in the coaching staff. Mingoia started his playing career at Watford, making seven appearances, including two Championship starts. His most successful period was at Accrington, totalling 156 games and 15 goals over three spells, and being named their 2013-14 Player of the Season. He also made 74 appearances for Cambridge United and turned out for Morecambe, before finishing his career at Boreham Wood in the summer of 2021 and focusing on coaching ambition.

23 year old left back Jack Sparkes has joined Peterborough Utd on a 3 year deal, for an undisclosed fee.
Technically, he is no longer a Pompey player but does the option of accepting the contract offered remain on the table as it did for Swanson?
He left the club of his own accord, as he wouldn't accept the new contract offered by PFC. It's just a matter of time before he joins Wrexham I reckon, as they are apparently really keen to bring him back to Wales.
please log in to view this image Portsmouth are closing in on a deal for Danish club Esbjerg’s Elias Sørensen, with the player waiting for final paperwork to be completed before returning to England. The 24 year old, 6' 2" striker has scored 43 goals and 21 assists in 84 games for the Danish club since, numbers which have presumably convinced Portsmouth, back in the Championship this season, to spend their money on him. It is believed that Pompey have agreed a fee of around £300,000 for the player. He’s previously been in English football when at Newcastle United but failed to breakthrough. From the Magpies he had loans to Blackpool, Carlisle United and Almere City, before leaving Newcastle permanently in 2021.
