The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal, with an option for an additional 12 months, following his departure from QPR at the end of last season. He has played from U16 to U20 for England, and is the son of former player Jason Dozzell. Blues boss John Mousinho said: “Andre brings plenty of Championship experience, having spent the majority of his career at this level. “He’s chosen to come here over other options and is someone who has a real ambition to succeed at this club. “Andre is a very technical midfielder and has the athleticism to get around the pitch and compete, so we’re delighted to welcome him to Pompey.”
Hope he does well for you, but £3 million is a lot of money for such an inexperienced youngster. You need to take a leaf out of my pal Clingo's book, or BluefromBridgend, if you need training to avoid being called a WUM
please log in to view this image Well here's one we also didn't see coming. Academy graduate Matt Ritchie returns to Fratton Park after 13 years.. Ritchie was rumoured to be heading to Bournemouth from Newcastle after his contract at St James Park ran out. The 34-year-old right winger/wingback has agreed a two-year deal at Fratton Park following his departure from Newcastle at the end of last season. The Gosport born player has 16 Scottish international caps scoring 3 goals.
Main thing I remember about Matt Ritchie is scoring the equalizer against Southampton at fratton park
Three days to go and the squad has certainly undergone quite a transformation since the summer. And some of the new arrivals will be on quite a hefty wage, so I would imagine our wage bill may have doubled or trebled since the end of last season. Having said that, the arrival of these players must have been costed with increased revenues incoming via TV, increased sponsorship, more revenue created on non-match days as the place is used for meetings and conferences. I suppose a player like Scully will realise he is going to get zilch playing time, but who in League 1 or 2 is willing to take him on his wages. Having said this, do we think it is a squad that is capable of surviving in the Championship? I think it is but we won't be at the top end.
Fully agree, Ides. Mid table would be good! Northampton Town apparently want to sign Anthony Scully, to play in League One. Do hope it goes through, to get him off the wage roll.
It’s not £3m though; a payment of just under £1m with add ons + a 25% sell on clause to Man City. Dozell and Ritchie in different ways are decent signings

please log in to view this image Portsmouth are weighing up a move for 32 year old 6' 2" centre half Liam Cooper following the end of his contract at Leeds United. He made 262 appearances for Leeds, scoring 11 goals. He also has been capped 19 times for Scotland. Blackburn Rovers are also keen to sign him as a free agent. He would do a decent job for us, until Regan Poole is fully fit.

The 6' 3" striker was signed by the Cherries this Summer from Sheffield Utd, but needs to get regular games to keep fit. His fitness record isn't that brilliant, but the Canadian born player has played for England Youth teams on quite a few occasions.

The 19-year-old, from Guinea, joins on a four-year deal but is yet to make a senior league appearance. Kamara started his career at Paris St-Germain but only played in a friendly for the first team before leaving France in July 2021 to join Dortmund, where he was a mainstay in the reserves. “We think he’s ready for Championship football and can really kick-start his career with us,” said head coach John Mousinho. “He’s a powerful and combative midfielder who can handle the ball well – he’s right up there in terms of his athleticism and game understanding.”
Reading this synopsis, I think I would steer well clear of him. We have enough in the treatment room as it is, but hopefully Josh Murphy and Yengi are nearing full fitness again. And I am sure we all look forward to the return of Regan Poole in the not too distant future.
I wonder if this is really necessary as we have Lane, Murphy, Lang, Whyte, Devlin and Scully as our wide men. The club will have to redesign the dressing room as it must be at bursting point with so many recent signing and the expectation of more to come. I suppose the club will be looking to move some of the very fringe players on like Scully, Stevenson, Lowery maybe - but apart from saving on wages, these guys won't command any fee whatsoever.

We are also negotiating with Newcastle Utd for the season long loan signing of 20 year old, 6' tall Irish centre half Alex Murphy, who is highly rated by manager Eddie Howe. Hope that comes off, as we need cover in centre of defence. If it does happen, he will be our second loan signing after Sammy Silvera.
