Get on with it. Great race once they stopped playing music and making them wait for no reason.

Brilliant from Noah Lyles! Hard luck on Kishane. Pity they couldn't have come up with a tied result. One thing for sure, Thompson is going to be an absolute monster in years to come.

What a high standard is being set in the 800m for ladies, all the finalists inside 1.59. And 1500m for men where I think a run very close to the world record will be set. I hope it is broken. Unlike tonight, Ingebrigsten will not hang around to be outsprinted so he will go for it on Tuesday. One guy clocked 3.33 but such is the standard did not reach the final

He's a 200m specialist so getting to the final was a bonus for him. I think we will see a high class event there with all the finalists going under 19.9, but Bolt's record will remain intact.

Hodgkinson looked so comfortable with a 1:56:86. I know gold will be the only thing that she cares about, but she seems in such imperious shape and form I wonder if she could take down the WR.
Surprised and disappointed Jemma Reekie didn't make the final though, as she will be. Thought she was a strong candidate for a medal! 1:58:01 not enough in a fast semi-final, but she ran 1:55:41 just a few weeks ago! Which I think is the second fastest in the world this year and a time that few others can match.
And finally, well done to Phoebe Gill to put in another solid time of 1:58:47. She's only 17 and had a monumental rise in level of competition in a very short space of time. 'She was invited to run for Britain at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in June 2024 but declined, opting to study for her school exams instead.'

That mixed triathlon relay finish though

This is the photo finish that we were given bronze for instead of silver as initially awarded.

When they VAR it like this which body parts count and which don't count as crossing the line first? Looks like it must be foot based on that as I'd say every part of Potters body is ahead of the US athlete except the foot.

It's an advanced form of bed-wetting, practised by many Saints fans...

Reduces the need for starch, so I'm reliably informed by a short sighted friend.

I love the word imperious!!! It seems that GB's strength in Track and Field is in the middle distance events this time round. I have been watching on Spanish TV but is Steve Cram still urging youngsters to pick up a javelin, a shot putt, a discus even because years ago he was lamenting a lack of a British presence in field events.

I thought it was body not legs, and timing of photo suggests that
It looks like they gave it to US based on Potter's shadow which looks like US body
    Who knows?

I think you’re correct about it being the body.
Back in the day it used to be the chest, which is why you would see runners dipping forward and thrusting their chest out to hit the tape.
Pretty sure that “breasting the tape” is an actual expression in athletics.

I thought it was body too, but then the only body part of the US athlete that looks ahead of Potter is her foot! Which is why I assumed I just didn't know the rules. But then they did get the call wrong with the shooting yesterday too, also as it happens, a wrong decision that went against GB. If you can't even tell conclusively from a photo finish then both teams should get silver IMO.

Chest was the explanation for the 100m final photo finish.

Caudery out of the pole vault now too. Several of our medal hopes falling by the way side before even reaching the finals despite coming into the Olympics in great form. Caudery had the world lead for the pole vault this year and yesterday Reekie had the second fastest in the world this year in the 800, neither even reaching the final will be tough for them to take.
