Just sitting watching the opening ceremony, so figured we may as well kick this off while we fill the time waiting for the PL season to begin...
So, er... anyone else watching the opening ceremony? I applaud the ambition of doing it on the Seine rather than in the arena, but this is flat as a pancake so far
I love the Olympics. I get strangely invested in sports I have no idea how they work, have never participated and have to Google the rules, yet feel fully entitled to critique the Angolan representative. In all seriousness I'm really looking forward to the judo. I was fortunate enough to train with an Olympic player and by christ, I don't think people realise the level these guys are
I am watching it and it seems to be insane, the music being drowned out, most of the procession is going swimmingly, but it doesn't really float my boat.
I think the whole river idea could have been good, but you need huge crowds around the riverbanks, cheering and giving it energy. Because of the security perimeter and the utterly miserable weather, it's all just very flat and lacking in any energy. And a lot of the athletes look soaked and a bit sad
Absolutely… It was a year after the England riots, and exactly what was needed to bring the country back together.
Struggling to associate this with the Olympic Games. Credit where it’s due its original and also in that some of the action is quite amazing in such difficult conditions but can’t get excited about it.
The eyes of the world are on you. Lol The French tourism industry with its head in its hands right now.
