On paper it's an unbelievable signing. Football observatory had him as one of the top 5 u21 midfielders globally and he's been linked to some much bigger clubs. Obviously it's a huge step up and there is some question marks about a failed drug test. But it's definitely one to get excited about.
I don't think we'll ever truly know the deals between us and Fener - but my gut feeling is we'll get Shanghai'd somehow
The drug aspect is what makes him a possibility Its almost no risk for prem clubs He signs for us Does as well as expected Then 20m to sign him from us is nothing to them
Yes, and my point was when would it be known officially. It was 'known' that he was signing with us until he wasn't, so until the club announces it it isn't known.
On a serious note, I’m not particularly bothered the deal for Thomas-Asante collapsed. He’s a decent player and it seemed out of the club’s control that he went to Coventry. My concern is that we’re just over a week away from the first game of the season and we’ve only signed a left-back (who was here last season on loan), a right-back we were supposedly chasing for weeks before he signed and one midfielder. We still need another two or three wingers, another striker at least, a centre-back and a few more midfielders. If we go into the first game of the season with Giles at left-wing, it just confirms what I said a month ago about the club having poor planning at a board level.
Baz reported it as a done deal. I don't know how much more 'known' you wanted it. You've entirely missed the point of why I've brought it up. There's a reason I quoted that post of mine.
