Watching the manure game earlier and realised I should post about meeting John Mensah. Posted the thread then dashed downstairs to watch the match on telly. Suddenly a eureka moment: why not watch the match on telly, use the wifi (doh). Forgot about the wife deep in her Gardeners World magazine! It seems ignoring her by watching a match on the box and checking on the forum is unreasonable. Any marital advice out there?
Easy one mate. Tell her to get in the kitchen to make you supper and a cuppa. When she has done that get her to strip the lawnmower and get it ready for her first cutting of the lawn of the season.
Think it's a bit unfair to make her sort the lawnmower, why on earth should she do that? surely washing the car comes before the lawnmower?
I would hope the car was done in daylight! Nothing worse than when she leaves smear marks because of bad light. The lawnmower can be done on the kitchen floor on newspapers.
Now then, this is my area of expertise, 2 divorces so I know how to control a wife. Sit her down with a cup of tea for her and a stiff drink for you, she must make the tea and pour your drink. Be very firm, I find it best to stand in a manly way, hand in pocket playing with bits, they tend to like that. Tell her the rules and make sure she knows her place, houskeeping, cooking, picking up your dirty clothes and of course ones duty when required.Tell her you have no problem with her viewibg the TV when you ae at games or pub providing it does not interfere with her duties, ex[lain that when we win at footy she can expect a special bit of satisfaction in the bedroom department, always excites them. Finaly make it very clear how lucky she is and if she does no like it she can leave, both mine did. Hope that assists old chap.
Gotta lay down some 'rules' as such. It's relatively easy in our house. She's not into football much aside from drooling over a couple of the players, so it's an ask to watch the match. Luckily, I'm not much of a TV fan, so basically she gets full control during the week, but we've an agreement that if there's an SAFC match on, and I'm not there, it's going to be on the TV, whether that be on Sky Sports, or hooking the laptop up to the TV (soz Niall). She knows the drill. Special dispensation allowed for various cup games such as Champions League finals etc.
when this happens to me i tell her not to be so sensitive and touchy and put the knife down so we can talk about it sensibly
Pontsafc - You raise THE issue that every man dreads, it's only rivalled by the chilling question of "Does my bum look big in this"? Remember, women actually believe they can change their man, converting him to a clotheshorse through their fashion sense, convincing him their cooking is better than his mams and isn't a night out with her at a "good restaurant" worth giving up a couple of nights in the pub with your mates!! I found that raising her spending on the credit card/bank statement, scanning the itemised phone bills for calls/texts to her mates (not if youââ¬â¢re having an affair with one of them mind), suggesting we look through both our wardrobes for charity clothes donations and suggesting a clear-up in our bedroom to free space (emphasis on her make-up) all during her favourite soap, are effective guerilla tactics. Her devotion to soaps/talking&txting/clothes/slap is such that her patience will be tried. Then calmly say "I'm sorry, I know you enjoy watching Eastenders/Emmerdale etc, we'll leave it 'til later.....(pause of a few seconds).... It would probably be the same for me when I'm on about football" Withdraw gracefully from room (don't worry the ticking is her thinking furiously) and the seed of free time for each is planted!! If that doesn't work, then try Syd's man of the house speech!! Mine's best though, one divorce v 2 for him
That's pretty much the scenario in our house. I refuse, point blank to watch soaps and reality ****e, so we put a massive telly in the bedroom, and my mrs goes in there, rabbits on the phone with the banal cack on in the background. I generally play xbox and mess about on web, ã106 a month to sky, and i never ****ing watch it!
That's tv phone and braodband mind syd, with HD, unlimited calls (need that with my mrs!) and ESPN. It's a complete rip off, and i rarely watch owt, but i'd still never dream of getting rid. I'm a huge fan of nature programmes in HD, they look awesome.
I was paying ã86 to Sky for the full package, except ESPN, i had movies, sports, the lot in HD with an extra box in the sons room. Recently got made unemployed so the missus in her wisdom decided to cancel, the very nice chap on the end of the phone kindly offered us the same package for a mere ã40 as we were loyal customers and he would hold this for 6 months. Can i just say, he never asked for any proof that i was unemployed either lads. Maybe worth a try?
Might be indeed, i'm well out of contract. I think it's actaully ã96 now, as we couldn't have the second box when we moved, as it's a shared dish or summat like that? ã50 a month still a decent saving like, if i ever get round to it! I got ESPN just to watch Catts for u21's just after we signed him, and never got round to cancelling it!
I pay 39 for sky with sports package and 25 a month to the post office for phone and broadband including line rental. I asked about sky when I was changing phone and broadband but was told I could not have the full broadband because of the exchange.
I have the same dilema Syd although i do have my broadband with Sky, it's pants mate, average about 5 MB or thereabouts and unless i go with Virgin that's the best i can get through my phone line. Still, at ã40 a month for 6 month for the full monty i'm not going to complain just yet. BB, get your missus to phone up, give them the sob story that you've been made unemployed and you can't afford to pay so you may have to cancel, see what they come back with.
They do all they can to keep you sweet, a friend had the full movie pack at 40 a month, phoned to cancel and was asked why, dont watch all the movies she said, what if we did the same pack for 21 a month, she accepted.
It's whether i can be arsed to be honest mate, i'm not struggling for money or owt, i do intend to change my electric, not cos of cost, cos of the balls up i posted an article about (to their credit, went in today, only 2 days later than suggested). Our broadband speed is immense, for all it's not cable, we have an exchange within metres of the building. Thing is i rarely download, other than music, and i do them when i'm off to kip anyway!
Ours is ã56 I think with Virgin. Just a 'Medium' TV Package + Sports. Includes broadband. No landline as we don't really need one, and Virgin were the only company to not require line rental (at time of signing up).
