Could be as simple as an asset strip before RB take over but I feel the price is probably about right, depends what the add ons are.
We'll know if and when replacements arrive and if Georgi and Willy are sold.
Gnonto can take over the left (where I thought he appeared far better) but a Sara or Hamer is what is needed.

Summerville said he was happy to stay, the problem would have been his value with one year left had he stayed and not signed a contract extension.

He would have been my preferred choice to sell but at £35m so if £25m is true we better have a huge sell on clause

Very disappointed in the fee being discussed, but happy to let him go. Developed into a bit of a one-trick pony after a while, with defences knowing to show him to the left channel, or gang up & force him (too) wide right when he cut in for a shot. I think he fell away bigtime towards the end of the season. Personally I'd have preferred any other player with less skill than him, as long as they showed consistency , in effort, if nothing else. As long as we don't think Anthony should be brought back to replace him! <yikes>

Sorry WJ I slightly disagree. The team fell away towards the end of the season, Summerville was totally consistent for the final 35 league and play off games.

Having teams double up on Summerville should be a good thing, we should be able to take advantage of that fact, and for games 24-35 we actually did. Summerville's performances in the last 12 games were no different than the previous 23 games, but for some reason the team as a whole forgot ( or the lack of playing experience and the pressure of the situation affected them mentally) in those last 12 games, what they had been doing correctly in the previous 12 games

Deleted data as I made a mistake, although it doesn't change my opinion

Coming from WH side. £25m plus £9m add ons, which one you may as well forget, number of appearances, number of goals scored, WH to win a trophy and WH to qualify for the Champions league. NO SELL ON CLAUSE.
If this is true, I'd hate to think what Marthe would have have got if he wasn't such a great negotiator

First 12 games, clubs had no idea how to deal with Summerville

Next 11 games - clubs learnt how to restrict Summerville being a positive influence to some extent

Next 12 game - We learnt how to take advantage of the opposition concentrating on Summerville

Final 12 Games - It all went to ****
So WJ is correct to an extent, Summerville was non effective for 23 games or half a season. I mentioned last season, Rutter and Summerville in the same starting lineup was too much of a luxury towards the end, they could be both brilliant, they were not grafters who could dig in deep.

I never felt Farke got the balance quite right last season.

Sell Rutter then. He never scores anyway. However as usual we sell the quality one and then try to justify it. Club is going nowhere with this approach

What a bunch of speculators please do not buy any shares as your inside info is nil. <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Alot of knee jerking on here.

He was always going to leave. A player of that ability should not stagnate with us in the Championship. Did the fact he didn't start one friendly not ring any alarm bells that he possibly wasn't in Farkes plans?

The real question is who is going to replace him? Rak-Sakyi has not gone on the U.S tour with Palace. He refused as he wants to leave. He is a solid replacement.

Not sure someone who's had 1 season In league 1 can be classed as a solid replacement mate.

Non effective seems a bit extreme.

WJ said that he fell away towards the end of the season, I counter that his measurable stats were virtually consistent throughout the whole season, despite teams learning how to play against him.

The fact that the other 10 players as a team or Farkes tactics were only successful for at best 50% of the season is of more concern to me than the inconsistency of an individual player who started as many games for us last season as he had started in the previous 6 seasons.

I think the main problem for me is the owners not being straight with the fans. After the Archie Gray sale the message was no more sales needed so any more would be on our terms, which most took to mean money too good to turn down. Well seems we sold on West Ham’s terms. They also said Summerville missed the preseason because he had a slight hamstring injury when it turns out that the transfer was near complete. I definitely think Gnonto will be gone soon and I don’t really know who will still be here by the time the window closes.

Ivan Toney played league 1 football until the age of 24.

Just because a player hasnt thrived at Championship level doesn't mean they can't. I believe Rak-Sakyi has a very high ceiling as a player. He might not be Summerville but he has the ability to make a difference for us.

I'm not saying he can't succeed but not sure what he's done to be a ready made replacement, which is what we need. For every Toney, there's a skip full of waste

Plus were now trying to replace an established championship player, the best last season with either more hit and hope signings or promote from youth. It might work but Ill bet we don't get as good as Cry

Disappointed he’s going, but felt it was inevitable after gaining recognition as the Championship Player of the Season.

Have no idea whether it’s a good deal for us money wise, guess only the club can judge that as they agreed the fee with West Spam.

What’s important is who we bring in. Still think we’ll have a good season.
