If the UK held Israel to our own foreign policy moral standards, there wouldn't be a single Palestinian left alive.

The UK and US have jointly wrecked more damage and ruin on foreign nations in the modern era than the rest of history combined. They are hardly in any position to deliver lectures on the subject - and Israel knows this.

Why would the US be lecturing Israel on moral standards when they're aiding them in their mission to eradicate Palestinians and robbing more land/territory? Also, the US needs Israel for geopolitical leverage. And let's not ignore AIPAC lobbying power in the US as well...so it wouldn't make sense for them to vilify an ally like this.

From The Council on Foreign Relations:

"Israel has been the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign aid since its founding, receiving about $310 billion (adjusted for inflation) in total economic and military assistance."

Erm...what? Of course it's a problem.

You can't on the one hand say you believe in a ceasefire (which they clearly didn't) and then assassinate the main guy you'd be negotiating with. Haniyeh was the negotiations person. And this has given Netanyahu exactly what he wanted - to avoid making a deal.
well Hamas have shown little desire for a ceasefire either so can't see it makes much difference on that front

No it's not, good riddance to the scum. Think I might celebrate with a JD and coke tonight, if we kill a few more it could become a long celebration.

Yeah, you haven't got a Scooby about anything that's going on or why. No point talking to you about this when this is all you have to offer.

You're being disingenuous. They'd agreed to ceasefire deals before and Israel said no. Then they said later they wouldn't agree to a ceasefire unless it's permanent and unless they leave the Gaza Strip, which Israel - unsurprisingly - did not agree to.

Well if you had bothered to keep up with the thread, you will have seen me write yesterday in reply to @Citizen Kane. that I didn;t have a scooby. But if we could kill a few more Hamas leaders it would still please me.

Let's hope it doesn't end any chance of the remaining hostages coming out alive ...

My argument isn't with you bro, this spanner rocks up here and thinks he can start slapping people around with his anti israel stuff, he needs to join queue.

i'm not being disingenuous neither side are serious about ceasefires as far as i can see .Both want the ceasefire agreement to contain terms that are unacceptable to the other

What's unacceptable about Hamas' terms?

They want Israeli forces to permanently withdraw from the Gaza Strip, displaced Palestinians to go back home, releasing of hostages (on BOTH sides), ending of military operations and reconstruction of Gaza.

Please explain what's unreasonable about any of that?

What? I've been on this forum for years <laugh> I'm not anyone's 'sock'. PISKIE even handed over mod duties to me a little while back.

I only usually post on the Arsenal board and the Spurs board normally. But decided to venture here on the rare occasion to see what this thread was about.

If you want to ban me, do it for a proper reason, not for a pathetic reason like the fact you think I'm someone else.

There's no one on the Arsenal board, Piskie banned them all <laugh>
