My wife's father was from Lythe and his father was Butler to Lord Normanby at Mulgrave Castle so we know that coast very well, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Sandsend, fantastic places.
That was my first thought TB but they were going in the wrong direction - heading towards Turkey. Later found out there had been 50 Turkish warships here in TRNC as part of military parade as its 50 years since the invasion/liberation (pick your side). https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkiye/turkish-armed-forces-organize-parade-in-northern-cyprus/3281044
Love it there. Fig tree bay is wonderful and the people are great as well. I believe Howden Tigress goes there as well. Can get very hot though. Would recommend the red bus open top bus tour to Famagusta as well.
Forgot to mention that there’s a wide selection of bars and restaurants as well, plenty to choose from to suit all tastes.
Daughters in Rhodes at the moment says it’s 34 degrees and too hot to do out but go in the pool Jammy bugger
36 here in Cyprus. With a welcome light breeze. Quick check on here while I open another beer then it's back on the lounger and recreate the opening scene from Sexy Beast...
The missus & I sat at the next table to Quinn & Bisset on a restaurant patio on Corfu, just North of Corfu's capital Kerkyra, when they were filming scenes for the movie "The Greek Tycoon" in '77 or thereabouts.. A few civil words passed between us as we were the only 4 people there (mid day sun and all that!). The missus picked up a walk-on extra gig, which ended up on the cutting room floor unfortunately. The missus thought they stopped off because of her, as I thought the beautiful Jacqueline spotted me as they were driving by. Didn't ask for our hotel room number sadly. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077636/
The capital of Corfu is Corfu Town. Kerkyra is the Greek name for Corfu. Great town. Jacqueline Bassett was very fit. Could you concentrate on your meal?
Looking at holidays for next June. We've been to Alanya, Gouves and Monastir in the last three years. Any suggestions?
When in Rome do as the Greeks do -meaning speak unreadable words with faultless pronunciation. Kastropolis I had forgotton ! Your misspelt corruption of Jackie K's name leads me to saying I was a Bisset hound sniffing around. Gotcha! Corfu Town was the Duke of Edinburgh's birthplce I seem to recall ?
