If it didn’t I’d be a bit worried - it is a Hull City fans forum after all. :emoticon-0100-smile

Remember a couple of seasons back when we were expecting a big name transfer after Baz Cooper kept stringing everyone along with rumours of an exciting transfer we'd been working on all summer and we got Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand. No disrespect to the kid and I know he ended up injured but it's a reminder to keep expectations in check (and not to pay too much attention to those transfer "articles")

    Dear Stephen Toast,
please don't bother with DM's for me regarding transfers, I'm quite content to wait for official announcements when/if they happen.
Many thanks, TW (no, not that one) :emoticon-0125-mmm:

PS, if you fall over do you land butter side up or down?

I was one of those people and nobody was saying he couldn’t play wide, we were saying he wasn’t coming here to play as a winger, amidst our plethora of attacking central midfield options and serious lack of depth elsewhere, which turned out to be correct.

Except for the times when he did play wide like against Southampton of course.

An exception, he primarily played central for just about the entirety of the minutes he got here.

Yep, because Philogene returned to fitness and we signed Zaroury and Omur. When Fabio was signed, the speculation was that he could fill the role that Twine previously had, which is why in his first few appearances he did play quite wide at times (such as Sunderland) but then once we had additional options it was no longer needed.

I think he played on the wing against Plymouth in his final appearance though.

We’ve sold 16k memberships for this season already, without the new signings.

Will be plenty of full houses this season!

People may have been sold on optimism though, the thing that counts against our membership scheme as opposed to season tickets is you can cancel them mid-season, as opposed to a season ticket.. but hopefully by the end of the window there's enough positivity to keep people invested.

It's quite incredible how this ownership sells tickets. We've generally struggled with it as a club but these guys make it look easy. Price rise this summer, lot of negativity about because of the squad situation but still the memberships go up. Impressive.

I doubt many people do do that though. The scheme is designed to take advantage of the subconscious inertia factor, same reason every business wants you to sign up to their monthly service these days, it's a great way to get money from people without them having to keep deciding to give you it every time. Once you're subscribed it becomes a habit, you get used to the money going out and don't really think of it as an expense the same way you would if it was buying a season's worth in a lump sum. It's one of the very few things the Allams did get right from a commercial point of view I think.

Definitely get that, I just mean it's a lot easier to cancel a membership than to wait until the end of the season and not renew your season ticket. As you say, I doubt many do it, but if people signed up expecting a season challenging the top two and we end up bottom half, people might drop off.

I think our fanbase is often grossly underestimated. We used to get 12000+ on a good day in the late Boothferry Park days, and we were bottom division with no positive future in sight! I know the average was less but that was still an achievement. The core fans are back now the Allam’s are no longer here as well as the newer lot. I’ve been saying it before Acun came in, our attendances will rise again once we have a good owner because this is more of a football city than people realise.

I think we overestimate how many are on social media. There is probably a good chunk that are completely clueless at how poor the squad is right now

That was what I was getting at, I wonder how many will turn up to the first game and be dismayed by the state of the squad.
