It never surprises me when we hold on to players that don't contribute too much to the overall future of BCFC and when I look back it would appear that our history is cluttered with instances where we should have acted earlier to move some players elsewhere. Massengo was a classic for me as we spent way outside our normal comfort zone and essentially got nothing in return other than mediocrity and lack of goals. What's the deal with Mehmeti as I see lot's of tricks and turns with little or no return on investment much the same as HNM, so are we going to spend more time and money hoping we can pick up another cheap player to boost the defaulter's output? Surely with the vast sums of money that either player may bring in to balance the books we could rebuild in the true sense of the word and not phaff around any longer hoping that some miracle may happen to suddenly make them superstars. I know we have been busy going about our business signing up new players but is there really anything that has improved our squad, other than a few tweaks here and there that may or may not improve our lot in life? Our rebuilds have rarely changed our fortunes over the years and honestly I still see the same old stuff and rhetoric being bandied about but as far as the meat and potatoes they have been replaced with tofu and avocado, and that doesn't get my taste buds throbbing.
A bit harsh on Memheti after the way he finished the season. I do agree on Cornick though, he’s offered zero since the day he was signed.
I agree re Cornick to a point, we’ve never really played to his strengths, which is alongside a big centre forward, it’ll be interesting how he fares now we have one. The one thing about him is he always puts in a shift, that’s the least we should expect I know, but we all know it hasn’t always been the case.
I think Mehmeti is nothing more than a show pony, all tricks to nowhere. Nevertheless Manning kept playing him towards the end of last season so I'm hoping Manning has seen something in training that comes to fruition in the league next season. I'm not holding my breath, Mehmeti drives me nuts. Cornick works hard for the team but to me he doesn't look a natural finisher even alongside a CF.

please log in to view this image Team news is IN! Here's how City line up... O'Leary Tanner Vyner Dickie Pring Knight (c) Bird Mehmeti Bell Wells Armstrong (subs - Bajic, McRorie, Naismith, Roberts, Gardner-Hickman, Stokes, Sykes, Cornick, Mayulu)
HT - 0-0 the story so far It's been an intriguing little game, but there's nothing to separate the two sides at half time. City began to work out Willem's narrow 3 in midfield and have grown into the game after an early ten minute sparring session. They've dominated territory and possession but it's that final ball or the finishing that's been lacking. Stand out man for City has been Max Bird, with Nakhi Wells and Anis Mehmeti also looking lively.
FT - 0-0 Last chance for Willem II A free kick wide on the left in an advanced position for the Dutch team - this will be the last chance, I'd have thought. Sadly, the keeper's not up for it.... And Max O'Leary palms away a teasing cross, and the ref blows for full time.
Only preseason, but I still worry where the goals are going to come from. Bird looked tidy, also liked the look of Mayulu when he came on. Is Williams injured?
FT - Bristol City 0-0 Willem II And that is it - Bristol City huffed and puffed in the Ashton Gate heat against a good Dutch team, but couldn't find the breakthrough, despite creating a few good chances and dominating the play. (Bristol Live)
