Their new stadium is the biggest risk in a basket case of risks.

If they get relegated before it starts paying for itself, which is a really possibility, they will collapse financially.

The board said this a few months ago:

"The club is continuing negotiations to secure the next stage of funding for the Bramley-Moore Dock development. Various options are being explored, however, the club has yet to secure legally binding facilities as of the date of approval of the financial statements and this facility is not yet guaranteed.

“The board are confident that funding will be secured or refinanced, However, the directors acknowledge these uncertainties may cast significant doubt on the entity’s ability to continue as a going concern.”

Which is just finance jargon for:

"We don't currently have the money, and even if we get the money, we're not sure we'll be able to afford the repayment schedule."
The state of the finances is horrific as their revenue is lower than their everyday outgoings and they are hugely in debt though quite a bit is owed to Moshiri

For the record Gerrard carried Liverpool for years.

One of the greats of his era despite what rivals may say.

Gerrard, a selfish player too invested in his own personal glory, to the detriment of the teams he played for.
Agree he was selfish
Agree he was invested in his own personal glory

disagree it was to the detriment of the club
In fact I would argue it drove him to do some of the amazing things he did

just my opinion

And that's also nonsense. He could have gone to other clubs but didn't. Pretty much adapted to new positions and managers while still scoring goals and creating assists throughout his career. Selfish though yeah of course.

Wasn't he about to sign for Chelsea but did a u turn because of the threats against him and his family by the local mob, if he did. Rumours were he was paying Mr big protection money too

I don't think he had any intention of leaving, it was just an ego trip.

Not so sure, he did write in his book about the threats
He definitely had dealings with the local mafia, on his nights out, usually in Southport, he had a couple of paid minders who were associated with the local mob.
His daughter too was seeing one of the big boys sons

Or he just changed his mind after speaking to family. One is a reasonable answer and the other is straight out of the anti lizard book of conspiracy theories. You decide.

Nah mate, I'm sticking to my story, it was well known at the time, the family involved were and are a big noise in Liverpool.

It was pretty much common knowledge around Liverpool at the time.

... think my jest may have gone above your bonce mate ... I was chuckling because they don't actually write anything themselves .... editorial personnel would have been saying stuff like '... perhaps it would be better to say it like this ...' <laugh>
