Not sure about this one.

First of all, Irish isn't a race.
Secondly half the Irish people I know are nicknamed Paddy and use the name as their sobriquet (I also have a welsh mate who we call Taff, who also uses the name himself).
I mean, its not something I would just call an Irish person, without their leave, but its used quite a lot by brits as a term of endearment towards Irish friends.

Being of Irish descent, can say it's not really a problem ... although 'Paddy' really is a 'version' of Patrick ...

It's the inflection that determines whether it's meant to be derogatory or insulting ...

Annunciated without negative intent, there really isn't anything that bad in using a collective such as ...

Paddy for the Irish
Taffy for the Welsh
Jock for the Scots ...and
Cùnt for the English

<whistle>

If it wasn’t at Woodison, it didn’t happen clearly - the theatre of, erm, beams.

Cool story.

If his three seasons at Newcastle were his best football…then that’s a shame as his highlights were even more limited.

oh, there is the fishing rod/chicken incident. So that’s a good one

Fishing rod being when he thought he could calm down Raoul Moat by going fishing with a few beers?

You ever seen Gazza play by the way, or are you just going on what the general consensus and misty eyed media tell you?

Yeah, he was a very good player. But he ****ed his own career right up and, on the grand scheme of things, did **** all with it.

I love it how he's deemed some great or other when the only things he over won in his entire career where when he went on holiday to Scotland and played for Rangers. He rarely played a the very top of the game, if ever, club wise. Probably some CL football with Rangers maybe, I'd have to check.

Otherwise, he was always at a nearly ran club.

Fosse was referring to Mainoo's ability to run (forwards) with the ball at his feet. Wilshere was another who had that. Grealish another.

(not Trent laaa BTW)
I always thought Gazza was sort of Englands answer to George Best
I could be way off on that
Just how it looked to me from distance

George was my hero growing up - every kid in the playground wanted to be George ... the very best 'dribblers' have the ability to glide past opponents and ride challenges due to incredible balance ...

George certainly had that in buckets and whilst I don't rank Gazza anywhere near having George's mercurial talent - he did have those skills more than most ... and certainly compared to any other English players of his generation...

I wasn’t around so can’t comment loads
I just look at what the two of them did
And think they probably could have done so much more
Not going to debate which one was better
But the both sort of pissed their talents away from what I can see which is more where I am coming from

Best looked class in his prime so did Gazza
But neither of them are a Pele or Messi - sort of next levels down maybe
I dunno
Sad tbh - I did see Gazza at Burnley and he was atrocious - like awful
So was Wrighty though
