Mcmanaman had a 15 year career. Scored 54 in 401 - 0.134 goals per game.
Represented his country 44 times, scoring 4.

Mcmanaman managed 59 more appearances over those 15 years than Gazza.

Over Gazza's first 15 years (many of which he was pissed or injured during), he scored 80 in 342 appearances - 0.234 goals per game. He didn't play for Real Madrid, clearly.
Represented his country 73 times, scoring 16.

Stats aren't everything. Not by a long shot, which is why I generally air on the side of professional opinion, of which I've overwhelmingly heard that Gazza was the best many had ever played with or against. Never heard a single accolade of that ilk for Mcmanaman.

Funny that a Liverpool fan might think that Mcmanaman was better than Gazza, and Newcastle and Spurs fans would argue the opposite :emoticon-0100-smile No doubt he was a better professional, but that's about all I could give him. Gazza's career was wasted - such a weird thing to say, but I wish he'd gone to Man U and SAF got hold of him. Might have been very different.

Gonna go all Fosse here.

watched them both, had one play for my club and wished the other did.

But neither were as good as Everton yooof Rooney <cheers>

Glad they were never held to ransom on Branthwaite. <cheers>
indeed, Everton are on crack.
They wanted the same money Liverpool paid for Van Dijk <laugh>
Have fun losing him on a free when his contract runs out

I use to get called Australian in the US, is that racist?...it was an assumption based on my accent...and who knows, the colour of my skin maybe.

You had Gazza, at the extent of his career that was passed Mcmanamans years in the game, and that is your barometer? Look at your board…

not 100% what you mean here.

but it is my opinion that McManaman and the others I mentioned were better than Gazza.
His career highlights were brief, and could have done so much more.

Your board signed a past it Gazza. That was all I was stating.

Your opinion of his qualities is just that. We’ve all got them. Was noticeable that earlier post didn’t mention his Newcastle years which were some of his very best.

Medals? No. Talent? In droves.

Again, we all appreciate different things.

Mentioned the highlights I had seen. Sadly he may have only played a maximum of three games at Goodison while at Newcastle, dont recall any cup games in the 80’s
