He reported it, that's the point. I'm with toast on this. It's up to him to report facts not influence opinion. Though I don't recall anyone seriously arguing that it wasn't a misstep.
Agree to disagree to an extent. Some journalists will just journal the event. Some would have the balls to call it out for what it was and it was a car crash. Alas he’s not in a position to do the latter and I get why.
Journalists dont work for tinpot local news outlets full of clickbait and pop up ads. Journalists research stuff and expose corruption, report on facts and change lives via their work. Dont ever get the two types of people mixed up. Baz is a dweeb working for crap money trying to make his masters happy.
Depends on the individual journos commitment to impartiality and the editorial policy of the publication.
If he was a proper Journalist he would not care about the position he is in. The lack of fear is what makes a true journalist.
Do you remember years ago one footballer was travelling about an hour and half to training and he kept getting hamstring and other pulls, and they worked out it was because he was driving a manual Ferrari, notorious cars for that apparently
Not all journalists are bound to impartiality. It’s not the BBC. If we are going down that route then I would argue Baz tows the line more the other way than he is impartial
So was Andrew Jennings but he will be remembered for many years as a proper journo. Baz will be forgotten a week after he leaves Reach.
Most quality journalists would have at least some consideration towards objectivity. Not all journos work for the gutter press.
Buckingham was a proper journalist and he ended up getting the paper banned and himself leaving for a subscription outlet. Say what you want about Baz but at least we have a functioning relationship between the club and the local press again.
I’d much rather have the press hold anyone to account than be the third party spokesperson for the club. A working relationship shouldn’t be contingent on being compliant
Not every journalist is world class And if baz was too critical, hed be banned Theres not many journalists that cover city No one gives a **** about us outside the city really Clickbait is **** But it works to an absolute ****ing t Hence why its everywhere
Baz gets a really hard time but I appreciate having someone close to the club that for me goes beyond the call of duty in giving us content. A podcast, little videos he's recorded whilst in the camp, Q&A's. Yes, there's a clickbait element to the stuff on Hull Live but it's the nature of his job sadly that I'm sure he puts up with for his wage.
I listen to the pod and they toe the line carefully. I know fletch personally. Having worked for the club he’s very diplomatic which is totally understandable. Prutton and Burns are probably the most critical but even the former takes the Sky standpoint. He’s been most critical about the sacking of Rosenior as I suspect they’re close. Burns is just his usual grumbling self. Just my opinion like but the pod is an extension of Hull Live and they won’t do anything to jeopardise the relationship. I get it. Doesn’t mean I agree with them not being critical when it’s justified.
