well a whole list of names to choose from but no reform !!! would maybe have voted for them? .. but studied the form and most candidates of bigger parties are from outside bristol ... like YEOVIL!!! SO VOTED FOR THE ONE "IN BRISTOL" .. City council is green now kicked out labour and the EGOIST IS NO MORE ...so maybe Bristol can return to being profitable and stop the cycle of re improving the reimprovements that the reimprovement was supposed to improve! and wasting near on £100 per annum of all council tax payers.
started to convert my savings and investments into gold sovereigns and Kruger rands 70 / 30 in value as when inflation hits 8 or 10 % in a year or so's time I want to have have some money put by for that rainy day ....

Had a really good evening with my mates 3 mile walk on the mendips.. cool breeze odd bit of sun and refreshing pint in local pub with a couple of chese and onion rolls ... steady drive home and now the happyness will turn to saddness as we look forward to the disaster that is going to befall our children and grand children in the next few years...
One of our number [age 24 ] went eerily quiet after laughing at the fact will be a labour .gov with a monster majority and us old fogeys are concerned about paying a bit of tax ... it was explained what happened in the 60's and 70's early 80's when we had mortgages of 15-17% [ rent was on a par and inflation was never below 5% people are crying now because in these financially good times they have to pay 5% mortgage and 20p /40p tax ........well just wait and see what awaits you ........... and as the .gov now labour borrow more our world wide credir rating will drop from top of the pile to down it meaning it will cost more for the .gov to borrow more .... and the debt in a few years will be nothing like they left in 2010... but massively more .... he changed the subject .......

It’s about time that those complacent Tories got a good kicking. Party of low taxation my @rse. They’ve hit us with the Bedroom tax, the Pasty tax, the Tampax tax, increased corporation tax, frozen the income tax threshold (effectively an income tax rise) etc etc - we are more taxed now than ever I can remember.
Trouble is, I can’t see Labour as knights in shining armour either. People voted for Starmer more because they wanted rid of the Tories, rather than because they fell in love with Labour’s policies.
I don’t think things will get any better any time soon. Only time will tell.

Regardless of your politics the Tories has run out of steam. It’s a massive task the country is gone to the wall, I just hope they spend ages in opposition ruing their record, especially since that waster Johnson.

Last year, net migration - the number of people coming to the UK minus the number leaving - was 685,000. That represented a fall of 10% on the previous year.

I thought Penny Maudant and Robert Butland, who both lost their seats, were very fair, passionate in their beliefs, which I like, but fair in their summing up.
I know Buckland personally. Nice decent chap with a disabled daughter. Politically he frustrated the hell out of me; he abstained from commenting on anything controversial. He kept his head down and toed the party line absolutely. Licked any Tory leader’s arse whoever it was. Pointless MP.
I also know Heidi Alexander - not as well as Buckland. She is passionate and seems to have her head screwed on. I was impressed when I met her.

Came across an article that had to do with mortgage rates from a source that tends to be fairly accurate. It stated that the failure to lower interests last time but indicate could be in August means that a"double check" on the trend ... inflation/ interest/ mortgage rates are due to go down for the next 1 to 5 month's based solely on what has been achieved before July 4th 2024 . [ maybe down to 4.75% by Christmas ] Rishi maybe should have waited! ! !

Either way, and even if we sell what is being extracted to other countries, it seems a very short sighted thing to do in the middle of an energy and a financial crisis
