Always makes me laugh when England pundits talk about individuals not playing how they do for their clubs; he’s not playing for his club now ffs. It’s not the same as playing with the same group of players week in week out. It takes time to make a team, and you have to build momentum, which hopefully we’re doing.

We’ll probably look disjointed and awkward against Switzerland too btw, but I honestly only care about winning at this point.

I agree generally but it is a fair comment in the sense that some players seem to play within themselves at country level.

Pressure maybe?

Horrible tactics are holding us back atm imo.

I think this is the time for Southgate to do that speech from Mike Bassett sticking two fingers up to the press and declaring England will play 442. Bang it up to Toney. Gordon and Saka on the wings. Bellingham box to box.

Every country has that issue though. Some raise their game and others don’t. We’ve had the advantage of the manager being in place for years to build a style and it still looks like eleven players who haven’t played together before with no real plan.

Playing like **** and stumbling our way through all the way would be glorious but it feels very like one of those ‘go out to the first decent team we play’ tournaments with Switzerland playing the Croatia role.

Only Spain and Germany have raised their game so far, and one of them goes out next round. I’m hoping it’s Spain, because they’re the only ones we really need to be scared of imo.

Switzerland and Austria too. Good players for sure but not many we’d seriously say would get into the favourites on paper. Croatia did it for years.

There have been some grossly overrated England teams because of our exceptionalism when it comes to the Premier League but this shouldn’t be one of them. All of the big players have been well off it. That front four and Rice are meant to be elite players. Spain have ****ing Morata up front and a child on the wing.

The Bellingham moment will go down as an all-time great one if we get past Switzerland and do something but there’s not one player in that squad who can say they’ve been at it. Southgate deserves some flak for that but experienced players have to take responsibility.

We are through despite Southgate imo.

He's frozen in this tournament.

He's always been stubborn but this time its beyond that.

Hopefully he'll go for it against the Switzerland and make some big calls.

Wishing thinking!

He'll use the result as justification.

I don’t think he really can. I hope it’s Gordon on the wing as he best balances Trippier assuming Trippier can and will play. Shaw would be a huge risk. Foden doesn’t really deserve to play behind Kane but probably will. He might even bring Gallagher in and allow Mainoo to play further up which would go down like a lead balloon.

How about playing Kane behind Toney? I'd have either Gordon or Eze on the left.

None of that will happen of course. He will definitely play it safe with Gallagher, Mainoo and Rice in midfield against the Swiss.

Please explain this chart of sales of Swiss flags in Dundee.

The question is that you have an English team producing pathetic performances why are you bothered what some people in Scotland think. Do you expect sympathy? You produce the usual anglo centric crap. You are not as important as you think you are.
Do you care what I think about QPR?

I couldn’t give a **** but to say no one in Scotland cares about England is just obviously nonsense. England failing is the highlight of every other summer for a significant chunk of Scots.

I did consider this as a compromise in my 442 bang it up to Toney and win the second balls plan but you might as well hope for Ramsdale up front with Garuff.

I am just baffled why Saka declined to run into space reach the byline and centre the ball. It's basic but he continued to turn back and pass it back??? Nobody wanted to run forward until Cole Palmer and Eze arrrived.

Peej said Gordon on the left was championship manager levels yesterday

And he would know best seeing as gordon played for them

By your club football logic it’s Scots who shouldn’t have a clue when it comes to international football.
Unbelievable, after watching the crap that England have dished up in this tournament you attack Scottish football. At least with their limited resouces they tried to move the ball forward what's Englands excuse?

I’m not attacking Scottish football. I’m not even attacking Scots. Just pointing out you’re obviously wrong as Saf did.
