I would have thought you was old enough by now to have learned how quickly politics change, and how your dream will not happen. Give it another five years....to think that the Tories are finished long term is just laughable. My concern would be a more extreme right wing party rises from the ashes, if what you say did happen, so be careful what you wish for.
I think if they went any further to the right they’d dig their own grave. The Tories need to try and regain some of the centre ground if they want to be relevant going forward, especially as Labour will largely be setting a centre left narrative for the next 5 years.
As much as I’d like to see them rot, they need people like Amber Rudd, Damien Green to push the one nation Tory agenda in order to regain some respect and influence.

Make your mind up....so they've gone from a fringe party in one post to a needing to move to centre ground in the second post, I was assuming your were predicting the Tories were finished...![]()

No, you’ve read it wrong. That’s what they need to do, but I hope they are finished![]()

How many times are Arsenal going to win the league before the Tories get back in power?![]()
If man is still alive, if woman can survive?Don't be silly ... neither will happen until the year 2525 ...
Nostradamus
The Tories are for all their faults, a British institution with traditions going back to the ****ing 1800s. Yet here they are, bowing and scraping and fearing a party like Reform UK, matching rhetoric for rhetoric. Changing their Twitter page to "Tax Reform UK" to misguide the people.
They are a ****ing disgrace, if they had any character, any grace, they would match Reform head to head and fight these bigots, without any thought to the Labour party, who they have already lost too.
I do think the Tories clearly deserve to be knocked down into third place, but, who replaces them? There isn't anyone.
The Lib Dems presumably. They have the national infrastructure, just about, and they can point to their historic support for PR when challenged about what they actually stand for. This election is as existential for them as it is for Labour and the Tories; they don’t need to win more seats than the Tories this time, but if they don’t get at least 50, they’re back to being an irrelevance.
I agree, I speak to some of them and I'm active on a forum or two and I have seen some of them suggest "oh you know, 20 seats would be OK this time around," I said to them that it's absolutely insane to think like that. The Tories are in free fall, Reform are splitting the vote, Labour are barely challenging in the South East. It's the absolute perfect time for the Lib Dems to win a **** ton of seats, if they don't manage it I don't see any further reason that party exists.
I don't think 50 is the magic number but, 40-60 seats, they have had a good night. They'll be almost guaranteed 3rd spot which will give them the clout they need.
The Lib Dems would sometimes be a party I would drop my vote, but they made the mistake of taking sides over brexit, so they dismantled that middle ground and by doing so the floating votes for me. in my eyes they self destructed. Ed Davey has had a slow hard slog to get them back where they are, I still can't forgive, it will take time to repair the damage they did to themselves, but I agree if they are not hitting 40-60 seats and I would be expecting the higher of that number, then their job is harder than I expected. Labour have slotted into the ground that the Lib Dems fell from. Having said all that I give credit to Davey for trying.
