I did search and couldnt find a thread, but I am sure there was one on here

I love fishing, just being out there if you are catching nothing is better than being at work or in the house.

Had a few mackerel from Seaham pier recently, and I probably had my most productive session on a boat for over 40 years on Thursday, Cod, Haddock, whiting and the much undervalued mackerel. If anyone is thinking about it as a hobby, and wants any advice/help, I am willing to help, It's probably **** what I tell you, but talking **** is good sometimes :)

It's good to talk, helps with overcoming problems and issues affecting people. If circumstances change, I'll be in touch.

Why do I always decide to fish, where there aren’t any fish?

Never fished, but I like the idea of a cabin on a lake in Canada, sitting in a boat in the middle of the lake fishing, reading and generally getting away from it all

I’ve got a river right outside my front door, never fly fished before so went out and bought all the gear. Went and got my licence and then went to see my mate who lives for fly fishing. He talked me through loads of things and then said you need to hurry up the season finishes tomorrow.<doh>

Dont buy any more gear, its addictive, I keep trying to buy stuff I have loads of!

Seaham pier is member only, Shields and Roker are smashed at the moment. Kids are free (Membership must have gone through the roof)

Bought from Gerry@s on line before. I have gear everywhere and still keep looking

Its made to catch the fishermen not the fish :)

Having said that I was fishing with a rod which is over 40 years old on Thursday (boat) and it was great

Thanks. No, I thought it might be a charter boat
Was wanting to have a day out with my 3 sons and only thought of going from Hartlepool but that might be another option. Love to go seafishing, especially when on a UK holiday.

I dont know why but Sunderland doesnt seem to have many charter boats, wheras The Tyne and Hartlepool do.

There is a cracking charter boat at the marina, but for some reason his facebook page is private, it looks immaculate, Having said that it looks like he polishes it every day

Thanks again and for the info provided. I googled the Marina as well and found another one called the Sapphire, skippered by Peter.
Thanks again :emoticon-0148-yes:

I saw the Sapphire advertised, the other one is immaculate, that obviously doesnt mean he catches any fish :) I reckon he makes people take their shoes off before getting onboard

Sometimes I get out with a mate on his boat and we say the same thing. Then we figure out that the fish aren’t daft. They know the sound of his boat and word gets around the fishy community that there are two awesome fishermen up on the surface and the fish need to scarper quick fast if they know what’s good for them.
That’s the excuse we use anyway.
