Yeah all that article really tells us is that we have no issues with this current period. Which is good news but doesn't really tell us much about what we can expect this summer. There are a lot of variables including those you mentioned but also player sales. We could realistically generate player sales of anywhere between £5m and £70m depending on the likes of Onuachu, Alcaraz, ABK and dare I say it KWP.
Given the TV money we will get, I would imagine we'll have a reasonable budget. The important thing is we'll be fine for the last 3 seasons. TBH we're all speculating and will just need to wait and see.
Guys, did you all miss ‘up the 30th June’? After that the cost drops into the next 3 year cycle and we can technically spend what we like!
Probably fairly safe to assume Adams isn’t signing his contract, so this would be the replacement. If we’re increasing our PL/Experience in the squad with free transfers and trying again with spending decent money on young players then that feels like a good strategy. The transfer policy prior to relegation had a lot going for it, so not worth totally throwing it out as a failure.
Yeah I tried to work out our squad position a week or so ago. I think even taking into account Adams/McCarthy leaving we only had 3 spaces in the squad. It was after Lallana had signed, so should still be the same. So not much room for manoeuvre without players leaving. We might not register Bazunu due to injury as well so that could be an additional space
Douglas Luiz leaving Villa and joining Juve. £25m plus a couple of highly rated youngsters, Sam Iling and Enzo Barrenechea. Big loss for Villa, I’m assuming it’s to do with FFP
Always felt pretty inevitable he would end up here, be surprised if it happens this early in the window. He’s likely not good enough for West Ham but thought they would drag it out a bit longer, maybe we’ve just gone in pretty high with our offers
Well they seem willing to spend the cash, Perhaps they want extra money now to push through a deal for Max Killman. That being said, I had heard the club want Downes in by the start of pre - season so hopefully the club and West ham can get this agreed quickly.
Great business if true. Still yet to see Saints benefit from the multi-club model but hopefully the better Goztepe become the more likely it can benefit us.
I really don't like this multi club crap; why should we sell a player we own at a cheaper rate, and why should another club benefit from that with sweeteners to lower the orignal price meaning we miss out financially? Doesn't benefit us at all. Don't get me wrong, €15m is a good deal but presumably the 3 loanees to Goztepe are to get the orignal price down so we lose out Onuachu is registered to Southampton FC, not Sport Republic. What Goztepe do is, really, nothing to do with us as a club.
