Yes men tend to be yes men because it's a lazier way of staying employed than doing a good job.

Depends on who's doing the employing. I wouldn't want someone who just agrees with me all the time. Recipe for complacency.
Me neither, but people seem to want someone to come in, tell speakman to **** off, sign his own players and just go against what the club are doing.

That isn't going to happen.

Aye. Broad alignment is necessary but there has to be that freedom to challenge.

Example - the Liverpool boot room wasn't a load of blokes confirming each other's opinions.

Absolutely. What you want is someone to come in, engage, and have a detailed intelligent reasoned discussion on the merits of various alternative players before a consensus is reached. It’s not a yes man, it’s not a single minded man who just wants his way, it’s a coach who is actively involved and understands the goals and everyone is contributing to get it right.

There’s that much negativity around on twitter and RTG I’ve decided I’m just going to be positive about this.

Haway Bris lad
The negativity confuses me.

How many people can honestly say they have any idea about the bloke? If he knocked on my door now I would have to ask him his name.

We have to back him

Coz it’s not who they want. When you ask them for a name they say someone better but can’t give a name

I really wanted Maric, based on what I had read about him. I like rhe sound of this lad again based on what I have read today.

If someone hadn't posted the tactics link this morning I wouldn't have had a clue who he was or what he had done.

If it is Reggie, and it looks very, very likely at this point, I'll just be really glad we've finally got someone who seems to fit well and must, surely be totally on board with his role within our setup.

*I'm conveniently ignoring Beale and won't be entertaining any counter arguments along those lines* :emoticon-0103-cool:

My favourite manager until maybes a couple of years ago was Pochettino. Loved how his teams played and how he got Southampton and Tottenham playing so similarly with two total different groups.

His first job was Espanyol, where he started off well in his first couple of years but was sacked with them bottom of the league (9 points from 13) before getting the Southampton job a couple of months later who pretty unfairly sacked Nigel adkins.

Point is, sometimes a change in club, players, league style can sometimes suit different coaches. He had pretty decent success in his first year so he’s capable and his youth experience suits us. Also according to Phil smith this deal looks to have been in place for a couple of weeks with transfers and other plans already discussed, so maybe we’re not as far behind with preseason plans as we were fearing.
