what if you are being led down the garden path, have you thought of that? Why has it taken so long, why are we still waiting, why has his number one target turned us down, where is his “laser focus” , his “obsession with progression”, the importance of “succession planning”.
He sacked off half a season because he made a mistake in appointing Beale. To just give up wasn’t a mistake it was a ****in disgrace that he and the owner were fully behind. How many mistakes is he allowed to learn from until people realise he is THE mistake.

I lie in the middle of this argument. I'm somewhat frustrated by Speadman but hoping he wins me around this summer.

The recruitment process for the head coach has taken too long and further damage has been done by its sloppy, naive, and unprofessional appearance.

Yes, his soundbites are frustrating and sound hollow after a backwards step. Undeniable.

That said, there's a big assumption in your argument that we just can't make because we don't have the information available to us.

We don't know he sacked off the season. That's just feels like frustrated forum speak. He rolled the dice on Dodds for 13 games? Not half a season. He did so after Dodds had shown some promise in his past spell as caretaker, grinding out a couple of positive results.

It definitely wasn't a good decision in retrospect but I don't think there was any reason to think it would go as badly as it did.

That said, if we have a poor summer in terms of the coaching appointment and transfers, and we start the season badly... I would say we are at the point where Speakmans down turn in performance has lasted too long and his position is untenable.

In short. I agree with both of you and I need some ointment for my fence-straddling arse.

I see the pendulum is swinging again.

I can't get my head around those wanting Maric. The club have been slated for signing too many inexperienced players, yet fans want us to marry it all together with a bloke who's never been the lead.

It might not sound as sexy but the likes of Challinor have just as much of a chance of being successful than Maric would be.

Whoever comes in will get a fair crack at it form me.

Nixon saying we’re after a “foreigner nobodies heard off” and stating it as a negative versus paying out for Cifuentes, when this time last year Cifuentes was exactly that “foreigner nobodies heard off”, is funny.

Nixon makes up ****e, Sunderland irritate him as he doent have a clue what is going on. Hi Alan, king of the bullshitters

As I said in the post you've quoted there, Speakman has made lots of mistakes. Perhaps even enough for his position to be under consideration. However, I'm not putting my faith in people who would mislead you due to their own personal opinion of him. For example, one person's 'interference' is another's attention to detail.

Whilst I agree with the latter, I am pretty sure that the poster can make his own mind up on the information he’s been given. It doesn’t mean he’s been swayed by others “hatred of” Speakman. Like I said, a bit like you really, who knows which one of you is being led up the garden path?

People have said for ages that Speakman needs to nail this appointment.

If it’s Le Bris, and he comes alone, then it’s proof that he’s just looking after his mates to keep them at the front.

Too many bollocks dropped already.
It’s not proof though as, for example, Still was going to be allowed to bring in assistant coaches and had no issue with Dodds being there.

Again, take a step back and think logically, do you really think Speakman is prioritising Dodds’ career over his own by appointing a lower calibre of manager just because they are willing to have Dodds by his side?

Hard to comment on le bris as nothing is confirmed, we’ve lost our minds about appointments that haven’t materialised too many times this summer, it does feel like a drop off from Cifuentes who I was buzzing about, I know nothing about his style/circumstances at lorient last season, it’s hard to right someone off so early in their career because of a relegation, time will tell I guess just hope whoever it is gets the backing from the board and the fans

This the same boat I am in.

IF it is this guy he has to be backed by the fans and the recruitment

Yes

We have to start being logical about Speakman. There is plenty to criticise. He's clearly made mistakes over the last year or so. But believing the assumptions, the rumour, and the biases that some people hold against him is affecting the way the club, and the owner, is viewed. Its creating a false picture. We've got to stop filling in the gaps in information with stuff that we can't verify as being true.
