I'm no fan of Southgates tactics and never have been mate. Trouble is I have to ignore him and support the team, even though it does my head in. When I see what players like Foden and Bellingham do for their clubs, it just feels such a waste at this level. Even if we get a draw here, it's not the point, we went straight on the back foot as soon as they scored, we gave the Danes confidence, we should have a win mentality, the mentality Pep drums into Foden every fooking week.
Tbh I don't even blame Trent. There's no doubt in my mind, Southgate's told him to "just go out and do what you do" like that's what happens at club level
WTF do all the pundits seem surprised by England being so defensive once they go in front? It's been happening throughout his 8 yrs in charge. Went ahead in the 2018 world cup semi final and lost, same in the 2021 European final. Southgate is a boring manager and always has been...watching England is like watching spurs under Maureen, Nuno and Contes last season... tedious
Denmark are a team of plodders and we're letting them plod, need some urgency and to actually press, rather than half-heartedly pretend to start the press.
Foden would be getting shhite from Pep....you hit the post....it didn't go in...you should have scored...I can see Pep saying that lol....that win mentality!
What you said about Pep is the point though so it's hard to ignore Southgate. I agree 100% about how wasted this all feels. What grates is this is nothing new, we've had this for 25 years at least. Just wasted potential bcos we set up to play too cautiously instead of with a winning mentality playing expansive attacking football which the players are more than capable of.
In the years he’s been manager, our squad has massively improved in quality yet the football has been consistently ****. If that ain’t an indicator how **** the **** is as a manager, I don’t know what will be.
