Yes, being tight lipped is advantageous for a while buy, as has been said, being tight lipped too long creates a news vacuum, which gets filled with a cess pool of rumours. As various targets reported by the rumour mill rule themselves out of get other jobs then tight lipped changes from being seen as merely conducting business in confidence toward being seen as an embarrassing silence. Our manager plight seems to have been going on at least as long as the war in Ukraine, but they at least provide routine briefings!
Sorry to disagree about experience. When Patto came into the side, posters bang on about lack of experience. How on earth do you get experience if you don't play. It's not by watching. If he is not good enough, he will be found out soon enough.
It is a great selling point for bringing in talented (but very inexperienced) players. Saying and proving that we will give those players game time. We have had problems attracting quality players to the North East and this method has been a clever way to address that. Not denying that the naivety (or lack of experienced nous) is frustrating sometimes.
https://x.com/sunderlandafc11/status/1803749472796623096 Steve Cooper will be the next Leicester City boss, and his reasons for turning down other approaches from EFL clubs like Burnley, Birmingham City and Sunderland have now been revealed, with the Welshman not wanting to be dubbed a "second-tier specialist.
How many teams do you know that have won anything significant with an average age of about 22? It’s about finding a balance. Inexperienced players obviously need to be given game time but you don’t need 11 of them starting every week it’s counterproductive.
Cooper or Martin will be the first coaches sacked in the PL saints fans dont really like/rate Martin, Cooper - gets on a bad run wont be abe to get out of it
I think Martin is a good manager but he’s up against it this season. Don’t think it’ll be much of a reflection on him, more Southamptons squad.
Twitter has been loud but actual gossip has been incredibly quiet the last few weeks. The silence isn't "Can't tell you mate" or "They've locked it right down", it's the silence around James' Park when we slapped them daft 11 years ago. Haway K-Dog.
most feel he has an ego the size of the Solent, even on that massive unbeaten run they didnt rate him, felt he got lucky at every turn, even with the money they have to play with next season, they dont think he will do a good job
Going round and round In circles here “It’s Marti” “it’s not Marti” “It’s the French bloke” “it’s not the French bloke”
Try explaining that to Alex Ferguson, he did alright throwing youngsters in, admittedly with some experienced players.
