Probably the right sort of level Beale should be linked to, and Dodds too if he harbours managerial aspirations.

Does Marti speak French? If not and it ends up being Reggie Le Bris, perhaps the club may think there's an advantage to having a gaffa who speaks french, particularly given our squad and also if the plan is to further raid that market for young uns.

Personally, I dont think how many languages spoken and which ones should be a key metric, but if they've both interviewed well and you're then weighing up added value, it might be something that comes into consideration.

A quick look at the squad suggests the only native languages spoken by 2 or more first team players are English and French.

Le Bris is starting to look like the most likely candidate I think. I think it's important to look at his whole career to see how he fits.

He spent 8 years coaching in Rennes academy, which is considered to be one of the best in the world. He coached U15's then led the U18's to the national championship. Part of that team at the time was Yann M'Villa.

He then moved on to Lorient in a role which looks like it's Head of Youth/Head of Academy. He did that alongside coaching various youth levels up to the B team.

He stepped into the Head coach role last year with a squad that featured Adil Aouichiche and Vito Mannone and finished a respectable 10th after they had finished 16th the season before winning just 20% of their games. This season they fared much worse and were relegated, but having a look at the transfer business, the club sold £50m worth of assets which included their 2 main strikers, their key playmaker and Aouchiche (though they reinvested some of the money).

Le Fée in particular was a player that Le Bris brought through the youth academy and helped to develop into the £20m player he became. I can see similarities with talented midfielders we have that came through the academy.

His style of play seems fluid but generally favours a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 with the number 10 playing close to the striker. He seems to favour overloads on the wings, liking his full backs to be involved in attacks. But beyond that he's willing to change it up depending on the situation. It's not possession for possessions sake. His team will play it long if they see an opportunity and like to switch the play to find players in space. He likes his wingers to dribble. They aim to get them isolated in a 1v1 and then back them to win their dual.

All in all, I can see the intellectual argument for a coach like this. He's clearly more in tune with youth development than your average head coach, which will help relationships in the club from top to bottom. His style of play (if it lives up to what I've read) would be a fit both for the players we have (yes we need a striker) and what the fans would like to see. Finally, his record with developing midfielders is something that would be favourable given that the clubs prized assets are Neil and Rigg.

I'll get behind this one, despite his last season at Lorient.

I'm sure you've seen a lot more than me mate, but that doesn't sound like anything I've read. I saw something that showed he played with wing backs 8 times last season but the vast majority of the season was a back 4.

he’s a worrying choice for me. Looks like a Dodds / Beale. Character. Good coach well respected but tactically struggles. Had early success but found out. I’d get behind him but don’t think hes the appointment we need

23/24 season all but 5 games he played a 5 at the back.

Personally think it would be a poor appointment that doesn't fit the squad, doesn't follow tendencies of recent successful teams in the league and wouldn't excite fans mainly due to the low block he favours but the beauty of it is thats just what I think, others may think he's the best option out there.

Surely only played a low block due to the players he had, season before when he had better attacking players played a lot different

I've read different mate, but what I've posted is purely info that I've taken from the internet as read. I'm no expert.

Do you consider wing backs as a 5-4-1 or a 3-4-3 out of interest?

I guess time will tell mate. I don't think any of us would know enough about him to be certain either way.

No, he was getting plaudits for their high league position but it was all low block and then fairly direct. Lowest number of passes into the final third and similar.

I’d argue we hear him out if we think he’s going to be any good, rather than this bullshit. The hypocrisy of not when we tried to get Farioli etc. Such fragile egos.

Purely depends on the player and the setup of the team. If they are sitting in a low block with fullbacks playing in them positions then it's a 5

Any new coach coming in has surely got to look at the exciting, attacking way we played the season before last. Ok,so we had Amad,a special talent, and Cory fit and well, but the rest of the squad,if all fit and well,is the same more or less.Rigg wasn't in that side,so a quality cdm and a striker, give these players their heads and let them play with the freedom they had for that time under Mogga? Am I being naive?
