Dobson is gone. And on their watch. SE7 obviously back Scott, so they are as guilty as he is. They're a whole bunch of
Yes but Scott is in charge of the football side, especially recruitment, so he's more to blame. It's up to the owners to get rid, because his mates won't.
Yes all this happened before NJ got here if I’m correct and NJ done his best to keep him - Scott has a lot to answer for- he’s a complete
That’s correct, but if I’ve said it once I’ve said it a hundred times - Methven is the problem here. He employed Scott, so isn’t going to sack him, but he is also an owner and he is also the member of the SMT who talks to the richer owners, who have said that they will remain hands-off. Nothing changes without Charlie’s say so.
Yes you have indeed said it a hundred times and probably a hundred times more but the thing you keep missing is NJ is in charge now ! He’s the manager not the coach and Scott & Co have to wind their necks in
I am yet to be convinced that NJ is in charge of anything. And should Alfie May be sold, even for seemingly decent money, I'll be less convinced than ever. We are not going to improve if our two best players from last season are the first out of the door before a Summer rebuild even begins. SE7 should just issue a cast iron statement for all fans to see that May is not for sale. But I very much doubt we will see that. So why should any Charlton fan trust them?
NJ has said he has the final say on recruitment. He doesn’t seem the type to lie. He's also said how busy he's been over the last 4 weeks driving round checking up on players. I don't know, but doubt if Appleton did this.
The thing is that every player is for sale it is just a matter of price. But I agree it would be mad to sell our top scorer to a promotion rival. If we are serious about promotion we must keep May. I expect a number of players to come in this week.
It seems that the rumour mill is in full swing over May. It seems like it is a matter of when not if he goes. A big mistake in my eyes.
100%. Or just put a £5M price tag on him. As much as I like Alfie, I’d take that without a second thought.
He isn’t lieing. But he doesn’t have control either. He just has the final say. The final say from the list of players that Scott tells him are within the meagre budget. The meagre budget that not only has to remain within the basic SCMP rules, without additional donations, but also has to reduce annual losses by £8-9M per season. YOU CANNOT DO THAT AND BUILD A PROMOTION WINNING TEAM AT THE SAME TIME. He can drive as many miles as he wants, but to stay within Charlie’s budget he will not be able to recruit the 7 ‘elite’ players that we still need to get near promotion. So far he’s signed zero elite players.
Sorry but getting bored of replying to you now - he’s the manager not the coach - he’s not the type of character that’ll be dictated to by a complete arse like Scott - just be patient dear boy
I hope he will be a good addition. But again he’s not an elite player likely to make a massive impact on our promotion chances. He’ll be a 32 year old, at the end of his career, coming in on a free transfer to a league where he’ll be kicked from pillar to post. The last time he played more than even 25 games a season was in 2020/2021 and before that 2017/2018. We’ve had plenty of these ex-top players over the years and I can’t think of one off the top of my head who has been a success when dropping down to this level with us. On the other hand we have had several who have been bloody awful.
Luke Berry played in the best league in Europe last season. Rob Edwardes (the Luton manager) was effusive about his role at the club. Thats Rob Edwardes - an actual PL football manager, not BB. Swisdom, Dubai, or even our very own Agent Mulder on 606. I know who I prefer to believe.
