Love the optimism on these message boards every morning, "Today is the day, it has to be", then we make up some rumour about someone (who is always going to be announced at 6PM), odds drop to evens before some journalist says they've turned us down/were never in the running, fume at the board then rinse and repeat.

Wonder who the rumour will be today...

Is there some sort of poorly translated foot mercato article claiming he's the net pep and admired by De Zerbi, also previously linked to Brighton? If not I don't want him. If there is I'll get on Flight Radar

Gordon Armstrong is a nodd to my science teacher at Monkwearmouth school 45 years ago or so. Whenever he lost it he would shout Gordon Bennett

One thought is that he created, for the FDNY, The James Gordon Bennett medal for bravery, the highest honour a Fireman could receive. And New York fire men used to say 'Gordon Bennett' as a shock expletive when something was surprisingly good. As in 'that was so good, it should win the Gordon Bennett'.

It's getting beyond the joke now. I know that the Will Still u-turn derailed things but it's been 2 or 3 weeks now. There are enough out of work coaches out there to choose from.

I'd love to know exactly what Speakman and co are doing right now...
