Italy is the team that most reminds me of England, in that they are embarrassingly, humiliatingly bad in some tournaments. Of course the difference is that they win the others.
Kane and Southgate talking up England, we have to be favourites etc etc. If they play with the freedom and control that Germany and Spain did they have a chance. Key man is Declan Rice, he needs to match Kroos and Rodri as the heart of the team. Serbia 1 England 1
Still think it’s mental we’re favourites with some pretty clear flaws in the team and squad if there are a couple of key injuries. I assume it’s just the weight of money pushing the odds down here. Surely a bookie elsewhere isn’t ranking us as as likely to win it as France.
We are used to seeing our players play week in week out on the box. Sometimes we may think that they are better than they actually are in comparison with other nations teams. International football catches up every single tournament. Even the Albanians have players who have won major trophies in major tournaments last season. It would be interesting to see how many English players would make an All star team from these Euro teams. I could imagine 1 or at a push 2.
If I'm totally honest, I couldn't pick a favourite at the moment. Were Greece the best in Europe in 2004? Portugal in 2016 finishing 3rd in their group yet winning the cup. It's quite crazy to predict a winner in this.
Betfair says we’re fairly clear favourites which I still find mental but probably a better indicator than conventional bookies although their odds will influence the exchanges. Just find it nuts. Hopefully I’m wrong but can’t see this defence and midfield being up to it.
Kane, Bellingham, Foden and Rice are good enough to play for anyone assuming they turn up. France are debating whether Saliba should start and we’re praying Stones can stay fit so Lewis Dunk doesn’t have to play.
Wouldn't disagree with any of those players. Bellingham and Foden especially. Pellegrini looked some player for Italy yesterday, musiala, wirtz for Germany, the young wingers for Spain, Pedri also is a class act from what I've seen so far.
Don't we struggle to break teams down who sit and defend? I don't get it either...I doubt betting companies just go with the what the pundits say though so god only knows, here's hoping
